Page Commentary No. 101

Gunwild: I love that Cassiopeia doesn't doodle the name of an actual shop, like such things hardly matter to her. Just "CLOTHES STORE."

Psu: Cassiopeia understands the value of being instantly legible and understandable! Especially for comics.

Gunwild: Plus she probably steals so much stuff that she doesn't do a lot of shopping...

Psu: Oh she probably shops sometimes, if she goes incognito. I don't think she'd be cool with shoplifting, and she has loads of money from uh... stealing! But if she needs to buy some snacks and the "SNACK STORE" I think she wouldn't just slip some candy into her pockets.

Gunwild: Oh nah, I just mean the snacks are all the sweeter if you boost them from, say, a vending machine in an evil lair! I bet even now where we are in the comic, there are some doodads stuffed into her capering coat.

Psu: I think a lot of people really appreciated this page, even if it comes out pretty soon after a very action oriented and tense chapter. But I believe we went ahead with it because it happened to land on a birthday for our comic?

Gunwild: Yes! This is the 100th update spectacular... well, it's not exact, because we don't like to break stride for that kind of celebration. But I think it's nice that we got to include the two protagonists interacting, even somewhat indirectly, taking stock of their relationship. And then 100 updates later, we did a Cassiopeia birthday. Who will be next...?

Psu: We've got a lot of candidates who need birthdays! But if our comic is strong on anything, it's characters that get a little sentimental. I think Madison, in spite of literally crossing swords with Cassiopeia in the previous chapter, isn't out there trying to kill her. Also, for sure, this shows a bit more of Madison's playful side. Madison likes nice clothes! And Cassiopeia seemed to guess her style very well.

Gunwild: Well, she DOES know her size from probably having stolen her previous shipboard wardrobe...

Psu: They actually know a lot about each other from off screen stuff, now that I think about it. Madison learned a lot about Cassiopeia through following her trail. But Cassiopeia certainly would have pawed through all of their stuff on the stolen space ship. Think she knows all about Theira's stash of excessive guns and Cupcake's book of recopies?

Gunwild: Yes and yes.

Psu: Oh, before I forget. I should also mention one of the things we discussed on this page. I kinda wanted the cards to have a complicated sorta... "greeting card AI." Like Cassiopeia can record a generic message but the card would be able to extrapolate and react to the recipient. But we agreed it was kinda too complicated a concept.

Psu: So instead one's going to have to assume that Cassiopeia simply recorded herself for at the LEAST one hour with cartoon doodles on the side. She probably filled the card memory...

Gunwild: She strikes me as the type who would get into it and keep doodling and shouting to create new animations as she thought of them.

Psu: Honestly, getting distracted and making this kind of stuff is probably why she hasn't stolen MORE Regency ships.
