Psu: Honestly that's still going to really really really hurt either way.
Gunwild: Yeah, let's just say she got lucky with the Doll-Fins show having already broken the surface tension for her! By the way, I like that the Doll-Fins have their own lifeguard medic lady, makes it clearer that they're not a fish tank full of dumb animals (or at least treated like them).
Psu: Oh yeah, they're totally professionals who are here to work! I think they were one of our favorite one page inventions in the entire comic. So much so we gave them at least two more pages! Man, this is a really pretty page now that I'm looking at it. There's a LOT of world in here.
Gunwild: But not a lot of pants! Ya know, I was gonna say something about how Las Vegas involves an enormous amount of water being pushed out into the middle of the desert for such frivolous things as giant fountain displays... but in the Cassiopeia Quinn future, they probably terraform entire planets by importing massive ice chunks from other worlds, or space itself. Or synthesize it? Anyway, was just thinking about where all this water came from.
Psu: I am reminded of that alien species in Voyager that was desperately hunting for water yet they had warp travel, and presumably could come up with their own water tech. Anyway, do you remember what the original script called for? Cause I think this was totally another case where I just had a lot of ambition and added a ton of stuff. It's been a LONG time since I've seen a scene with this much liveliness in Cassiopeia.
Gunwild: Yeah actually, I think I just wrote her splashing into a big fun fountain like they have at the Bellagio... but of course, what I should have done was sci-fi it up a bit and make it a weird anti-gravity fountain or something. But luckily you were around to have an even better idea and do this.
Psu: I wonder if it was because I felt we needed someone to rescue Maddy. Or if I needed to emphasize just how lucky she was to contrast that last line.
Gunwild: Or you just wanted to draw mermaids who were nakiebutts...
Psu: Well... no one on the creative team stopped me, that's for sure.
