Psu: That's it. That's the entire thing. I really like Cass's face there and I think it was one of the best expressions in the entire series. This page has quite a number of good ones. Didn't you get into a discussion with one of our friends about the line "you've gotta be pooping me?"
Gunwild: Yeah, we really went around and around on that one. I had a LOT of takes - "You've gotta be squidding me," etc. I particularly liked that because Splatoon was just out. But he was like, "If you can't think of anything that actually seems like she'd say it just leave it as 'kidding.'" But I couldn't do that! So we have it as it is. At least it's nothing explicit.
Psu: Cassiopeia is a big kid, we've gotten better at embracing that over the course of the series. And this sometimes means just letting her speak in goofy terms. Although I gotta ask right now. I think I got it at the time but I'm not actually sure what Lefyne's line in panel 2 is supposed to mean.
Gunwild: Oh, well Cassiopeia is trying to be like, "You'd better not have killed her." And Lefyne is thinking she's surprisingly hard to kill!
Psu: Ah. It's a bit of a roundabout way to say things but Lefyne does strike me as a character that's cleverer than he lets on. Readers of the comic will know there's more sides to him than his primary persona which... not to get too far ahead of ourselves, I think could be one reasons Cassiopeia gets frustrated with him. Cassiopeia is entirely who she is when you see her. Lefyne however can play it cool, but I bet he would've been very upset if his quick acting really hurt the captain.
Gunwild: He says as much in just a coupla pages. But we'll cover it then!
Psu: We do enjoy placing in our guest star antagonists into these chapters, and Lefyne really was a good wild card here. He didn't drive a lot of the story but I think he pops up in a number of interesting ways throughout. But more importantly this is still a Cassiopeia/Madison story. And I think, as dramatic as the last page's cliffhanger was, I think something like this final panel here is much more interesting. The previous page is an action cliffhanger, one where the only question seems to be, "Are we going to kill off Madison?" Which is unlikely, our comic (most of the time!) isn't like that. But this cliffhanger is a moral choice of character, where what she decides could really tell the reader more about who Madison is at this very moment.
Gunwild: Yeah, we hadn't really spelled out if she was going to go for revenge over reason at this point.
