2020-07-22 12:52:29 +0000 UTCI went back and listened to the Dyatlov Pass episode, and I noticed that in the transcription of Kolmogorova's diary (around 56:40, if anyone wants to check it out), she mentions that Yudin "says he is unwell. [...] He is very pale, and seems jittery [...] he has fainted twice and keeps regurgitating". I didn't make much of this before, but in this current pandemic world, that stands out to me. I wonder if perhaps, Yudin really was unwell, and managed to pass something on to one or more of the others before he left the group, which caused them to become jittery and paranoid? Would explain why they cut their way out of the tent in the middle of the night, and the others chased after them. Of course, this all depends on Yudin having a disease that causes paranoia, and i'm sure Soviet doctors would have picked up on a disease like that as a cause of death in the autopsies. Still, an interesting thought!

2020-07-21 12:17:37 +0000 UTCWell sure, most of them did die of hypothermia. But that's not the mystery, and the Russian government knows that. The mystery is why did they flee in panic, cutting their way out of their tent, strip naked and then steal each other's clothes? If it was paradoxical undressing why did some of them re-dress themselves and try to start a fire? This is like the cops saying someone died from blood loss, but with no explanation about how they were wounded or attacked but acting like it explains everything. Its so frustrating!
