Page Commentary No. 83

Psu: This was one of those pages I read in script format and just realized what kind of crazy person I was working with.

Gunwild: What? C'mon, this isn't even that weird yet. He was just hiding in a table. Also, I don't think you liked the idea of Zeke's line, but I really enjoy the trope of a Western card game not being over until somebody starts shooting.

Psu: I think my favorite bit is the cards flung at Maddy's eyes. Mostly because I still like the expression I drew and I'm not as upset about how I avoided foreshortening and the perspective throughout the page. Just what the heck are you shooting at in panel 2, Zeke?

Gunwild: I like fun-shaped cards as a thing in sci-fi and fantasy. Like how they cut the corners off of every piece of paper in Battlestar Galactica as a cheap way of making it look distinctive.

Psu: I'm not sure if that would make it easier or harder to shuffle. Probably harder. It's not very practical but maybe they're supposed to bend easier at the halfway mark. Still, some of the other things I needed to get across on this page were the chips and coins slipping into the table. The idea that the table was transforming at all. The notion that everyone's been blinded that wasn't prepared for the flash. Pretty nutty stuff! But this was a very flashy plan even for Cassiopeia. To think, she had this planned BEFORE she realized the cops were gonna bust her.

Gunwild: Some people like to make an entrance. In her line of work, an exit is usually more important.
