A good tendency I have is to write five-panel pages. There are a lot of ways you can combine five panels, varying the sizes, leaving enough space for a big image, and establishing shot, enough chances to show the characters progress through a full set of interactions... point is, you can do lots of kinds of "shots" with five panels.
A bad tendency I have is to use the flexibility as an excuse to load down at least one of the panels with exposition. There are ways to make it not clunk, but I don't always succeed.
