Gunwild: It's okay Skwidj, you shouldn't be ashamed of your body!
Psu: I know people were hard on Farring in the comments. But I feel like if you took a moment to imagine just what he's implying, and the idea that he'd actually SEEN it happen, you'd probably be afraid of the little jelly beans too.
Gunwild: There is a distinct possibility that he's witnessed The Old Salt fling an arm-gloob onto someone's face and suffocate them, or at least break their bones. But that character hadn't been introduced yet so we an't be too mad at the comments.
Psu: He's probably got more reason to be afraid of these aliens than Ashley did in Mass Effect!
Psu: On a story telling side, this brings up a kind of complicated notion. How much of your ship do you want to operate via computers? And how many systems should require an alternate way to open things without using computer systems? Would you have a way to block enemies from using it, when you need to lock down parts of a ship? How would you guard your computers? Here we have a character using amazing brute force to break open a door. But one has to wonder just how you can stop a Vanaa dedicated to breaking through!
Gunwild: I think Skwidj was only able to do that because he got some space from Maddy's sword being there, so he could push outward. That's how I wrote it, anyway. I should do that more, with characters building on each others' strengths... anyway I'm willing to bet the door has a manual override, but that probably takes a while to use.
Psu: And there are cats in the system mucking things Psu: On the art side, there's a number of things I like about this page that came about pretty naturally. Moving from the red corridor to the Bridge which is predominantly lit by the blue planet made things pretty cool looking. And I hope it gets across how the floor is also a large view screen.
Gunwild: Thing I wrote that I bet nobody saw: on the screen it says "skriptkity_haz_colar_to!"
Psu: I like that everyone seems to choose to ignore the leet speak in the comic. But it is a bit of a shame if it goes completely unnoticed by readers.
Psu: Speaking of unnoticed, I hope people are able to note the varying degrees of translucency in the Vanaa. Getting that right was very important to me! And even how light will flow into a translucent object and bounce around was something that really made panel one work for me.
Gunwild: Using the sides of the broken door to emphasize a shot frame is my favorite art-thing. I like that so much I may have to start asking to see it in scripts I write. Well that's my favorite, aside form Skwidj being Mr. Nervous, anyway.
