Psu: I was just thinking about this today

Gunwild: So yes, Nimoo has Star-Lord's Walkman from Guardians of the Galaxy, a movie that hadn't come out when we started Cassiopeia Quinn, but which sure goes to our space-adventure loving hearts.

Psu: Yeah, Nimoo's design always had a Walkman of sorts but after Guardians came out I totally swiped the model that StarLord uses. But I just wanted to say I really like this page more for its writing than its art! It really quickly gets across just how little these aliens know each other. And There are some nice details that I got to sneak in which became important to the story. The hallways are designed for humanoid guests, being that this ship is a sort of diplomatic medical frigate. And it also has Zoomtubes for the Vanaa on the go!

Psu: But Kwah over here was a great character that just came about when drawing the page.

Gunwild: Yeah, having him be all glareful with Farring but reining in his hostility set up his entire character.

Psu: I thought it was the Mohawk.

Gunwild: Everybody's unarmed except for Maddy, since the sword is (in theory) a more ceremonial weapon, and wouldn't be much use against Vanaa anyway. We discussed it once, if you beheaded a Vanaa, it would probably just be like, "You have cut off self's body? Most impolite!"

Psu: The Vanaa are definitely formidable as warriors, in spite of their appearance. It's a fact that Farring knows all too well.

Gunwild: Aside from being in a war against them, he's probably seen the Old Salt kill and maybe even interrogate people in person...

Gunwild: He's not the nicest gloob to get an impression of his species from!

Psu: On the art side of this page, this looks VERY different than what you see in pages before and after. The ink lines are super thick and the shading was done with a pretty lose yet extreme brush. It was an attempt to do things really fast but I think it's a little uncomfortable to look at now. If you say, compared this page with the recent page where Zeke is getting covered in flowers... You couldn't do the Zeke getting covered in flowers page with this art style. Even the Vanaa eyeballs aren't as cute here as they would be in later pages.

Gunwild: Yeah, they're a little small. Although in panel 2 Nimoo looks very Nimoo, the way he's just like, "Humans are fascinating!"

Psu: One thing though is that it's good to see just what the scale is between a Vanaa and your average humanoid. Though Maddy is a relatively short person, the Vanaa are bigger than they look when you see them without context. There's a lot of volume there, like a giant beanbag's worth!

Gunwild: The exception is later recurring cameo and Satellite 9 creation Skarf. According to her, he's lost most of his mass in accidents and combat and preferred not to get it medically replaced.

Psu: I think we need to send her an idea to give Skarf an evil-er twin with the missing mass.

Gunwild: I want a zoom tube that shoots ice cream from the fridge into a bowl for me.

Psu: We're gonna need to get Dahir Insaat to work on those designs.

Gunwild: I'm gonna need to include a link to explain that one.

Psu: That's what we're getting paid the big bucks for! Thank you guys!
