Gunwild: The first panel is really impressive and all, but my favorite thing is the eyebot measuring Cupcake's foot for new sneaks.
Psu: I remember that very specifically from the script and I had a hell of a time coming up with a composition that would fit everything. And that's not to mention that I still have trouble drawing high heels. The second panel was just as hard as the first for very different reasons.
Gunwild: But it's so cuuute!
Gunwild: And robot horse in the fourth panel, too. I'd ride that to the office.
Psu: This page was really pushing what I was trying to do in black and white. The lineart and everything Is pretty cool but I think the greyscale here didn't really merge as well as I would like. I was attempting to save time by just cutting into a layer of grey but in some cases it just made everything look a little washed out. In the first panel it does give the ground a lovely "wet" effect but I think some of the lovely background characters start getting washed out. And there are a LOT of background characters. I think the Thark shop owner is my favorite.
Psu: I think Gunwild likes the French loaves the best.
Gunwild: It's just funny to me that even in the space-future, walking home with a "standard" bag of urban groceries always has a loaf of French bread sticking out of it. Unwrapped, of course, because that's how bread is sold.
Gunwild: I also like that one of the billboards is for Sasamille Salvage. Kid Sasamille was the young engineer from Gundam X who somehow kept building extraordinary high-tech weapons for the cutting edge main robot out of junk and refuse.
Psu: I don't think I even realized that's what I was drawing at the time... Speaking of not realizing things, I'm just realizing you can see a major difference in the Regency uniforms here than what it would be in later pages. The dark blue half along the back goes all the way down the upper uniform. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. I do kinda wish I got to elaborate more on their Desert costumes though. This is the only time you see Maddy and Theira with that dope mantle.
Gunwild: You think Theira tore the bottom part off of hers by accident or 'cause it looks cooler shredded?
Psu: She says it got shredded up in a shooting war. Anyway, we should probably point out how this chapter starts with another first person narration. But not from Cassiopeia!
Gunwild: Indeed! And maybe we can also hint that next chapter will feature a bit of someone's inner monologue. Oooo~
Psu: We definitely started compartmentalizing the narrators to specific episodes. The way we have a pretty divided cast on opposing sides, it seemed to benefit us to have an idea about whether it's a Cassiopeia story or a Maddy story right off the bat. The two obviously overlap but the flow has benefited from keeping closer to that idea overall.
Psu: I think.
