Important Notice to All Patrons!
Added 2020-05-28 17:53:23 +0000 UTCHello there my beautiful, perfect friends! I've got some bummer-type news. Government laws are always working hard to catch up with the tech world that has been evolving very quickly over the last few decades, and of course "catching up with" really just means figuring out how they can tax everything. And starting next month, it looks like some people are going to have to start paying tax on their Patreon pledges as though they're purchases. None of the rewards I offer have any monetary value, so I feel this is absurd, but there isn't anything to be done about it. I really don't know what this will look like, it sounds like it will all depend on each user's state of residence and the specific rewards I offer. If you find that you now have to pay tax, I will not be offended in the slightest if you need to adjust your pledge down to make up for it. As always, only give what you're comfortable giving.
I'm sincerely hoping this doesn't have a negative impact on anyone. But at the end of the day we gotta do what we gotta do, I guess! Ten trillion thanks as always to all of you for your generosity, and please have yourselves a wonderful day!

I hope not. I know I'm 2 months late.

2020-05-30 15:19:51 +0000 UTCLuckily it seems Kansas is not one of these greedy states. So im good so far
2020-05-29 13:59:32 +0000 UTCI'm from the UK so this doesn't affect me (presumably), but mixed feelings on such a law. On the one hand it's pretty bizarre and not the standard to tax a donation. But on the other hand, this is far more transactional than what one would normally consider a donation; Arlo offers the content for free, yes, but we're stiill getting something out of the deal. Given Patreon isn't exactly breaking any of our bank accounts, I don't think I have a problem with taxing people a little more who have the discretionary income for stuff like this. Hopefully it doesn't negatively affect you Arlo.

2020-05-29 06:09:03 +0000 UTCI’ll proudly pay taxes to fund our government if it means we get to help Arlo too. Kind of a double winner...
2020-05-29 04:36:52 +0000 UTCIf only the government wasn't run on theft

2020-05-28 19:09:42 +0000 UTCYou are actually my favorite person in the world right now Arlo.
2020-05-28 18:48:52 +0000 UTCthanks for letting us know arlo! There shouldn't be any issue to continue supporting what I've been.

2020-05-28 18:34:02 +0000 UTCDon't worry Arlo, I don't intend to change anything. My pledge will stay right where it is for one of the best content creators on YouTube!

2020-05-28 18:24:45 +0000 UTCSo wait... I should stop writing these off as donations? ... Hmmm ... Ah well, still love your content!
2020-05-28 18:03:41 +0000 UTCDon't worry Arlo. You just keep being you ❤️
2020-05-28 18:00:49 +0000 UTCA little tax won't stop me from supporting my favorite YouTuber! Keep it up Arlo 🙂
2020-05-28 17:59:06 +0000 UTCTax isn’t going to stop supporting my favorite YouTuber 💙💙💙
2020-05-28 17:58:48 +0000 UTCYou're the only youtuber I currently support on Patreon, and my favorite youtuber of all time. If this somehow impacts you by losing some patreons, I might even consider increasing my monthly pledge. They can tax my pledge all they want, since they can never tax the warm feelings your videos give me.
2020-05-28 17:58:43 +0000 UTCWell that’s... dumb. If custom tiers get fixed I will probably end up increasing my pledge to compensate for the funds you might lose.

2020-05-28 17:57:48 +0000 UTCEh. Don't bother me none. The purpose is to help fund you to make content I enjoy. Technically I am purchasing stuff because I'm buying you to make time to make videos I greatly enjoy. Tax or no tax the reason doesn't change for me. Naturally I don't speak for everyone here but that's how I feel.
2020-05-28 17:56:20 +0000 UTCThanks Arloo! No worries on my end, I don't mind paying slightly extra!
