Mood Tracker 2023

I made a mood tracker, feel free to use or edit it as you see fit! 

How does it work?

The idea is that you fill in the squares 4 times a day, every day for however long you want to keep doing it. 0, 5, 10, and 16 denote how many hours you've been awake roughly. Most mood trackers I've seen only let you fill in one square per day but that doesn't make sense for people like me whose moods change throughout the day!

The tracker has space for three months and you can reuse them for every season.

All of the templates are printable A4, and I've provided variations:

1) The box colours are predetermined - this will work best for digital users
2) The box colours are blank - this works well for print users who want to choose their own colours based on available pens
3) A version with the text but no images. You can put your own here! Use memes or draw or basically do whatever you want!
4) Completely blank - write your own text and choose or create your own images!

Why bother?

There are three things that I really like about mood trackers and that helped me immensely when I was using one. 

1) Tracking your mood makes it *so* much easier to spot the patterns in your moods. I noticed that I always have a really rough time in the morning, but my mood always picks up in the afternoon and my mental health is at its best later in the day. Knowing this pattern allows me to play to my strengths when I plan my day

2) I often feel that my mental health is worse than it actually is, because I remember the spirals more clearly than the times when I was just feeling neutral-fine. Filling the squares in showed me that even though I have pretty severe mental health spikes, I'm usually doing better overall than I think I am, and seeing that gave me hope that the bad times would pass and that I'd be OK.

3) When I could see that I was on a green streak, if something threw me off, I was more able to shake it off and not spiral over it specifically because I wanted to maintain my good mood streak. Basically I was able to gamify my moods, which sounds fake but honestly it really did help.

You've inspired me to try keeping track of my moods with this approach. I've been tempted to try bullet journals in the past, but never gotten over the inital steps of setting things up. With your template here I've made a spreadsheet so that I can easily update the tracker on my phone throughout the day. I'm hoping I can stick with it, because I think it could definitely give me some useful insights.
