I'll let you all in on a secret--those of you who read my Chorus of the Neverborn webcomic back in the day? The Contessa's name and appearance combine to make a very silly reference because the campaign started out a lot less serious than it ended up becoming. 1000xp to anyone who can figure it out! I'll even give a hint--it's related to a favorite hobby of mine.

She travelled the land and posed as a human illusionist wizard, rather than the Dhampir witch (Patron: her elder vampire father) she actually was. This, of course, was the justification for her titling herself "Miss Anne Gwynn", or "Miss Sanguine"

2023-05-05 01:51:35 +0000 UTCI'm reminded of a comic I read where session one they introduce a firbolg raised by clowns who threw pies as improvised weapons and then it cuts to session forty where same character is making a heroic sacrifice while admitting his love to a fellow party member. My point sorta being that whatever you began as doesn't matter so much. Serious paladin mcvengance can end up being the sworn protector and idol of a clan of kobold who all try to dress as him and Odd the bugbear bard opera writer extraordinaire can sacrifice it all to save the life of his unborn child. and yes that happened.
