Especially if you have players at the table who have differing feelings on the subject! DMing can be a real challenge in these situations, and while I know I try my best, I definitely don't get it right 100% of the time.

This is, in fact, the dilemma of all DMs. Roleplaying can benefit by making sure the world has people in it that feel real. On the other hand, people typically don't want to roleplay their buying 32 arrows and a Potion of Cure Wounds. Striking the right balance? Super hard.
