Chapter 2: A broken city part 2.
(General P.O.V)
A massive hover cart hummed in a whirling noise as it passed through the gateway, into a huge industrial complex.
The huge glass building belonged to Lexcorp, and sat on the fringes of Metropolis.
Morrison the security guard, standing at the entrance, ushered in the driver.
He motioned for him to park on an empty section occupied by other trucks.
The driver expertly navigated the vehicle before switching off the engine and disembarking.
Morrison clapped his clip board in satisfaction, staring at the load on the hover cat behind the truck.
"Can you believe it?"
The driver asked, slamming the door shut and approaching Morrison.
The latter raised a curious eyebrow.
"What is it this time? Normally anything high profile or too important is taken to the branch closer to the city center."
The driver grabbed a portion of the tarp over the load and uncovered it.
Morrison whistled at the bloodied body of Mammoth.
The supervillain was nothing but strips of flesh and bones on a soup of blood that was steadily trickling onto the floor.
Ugh.
That mess was up to the maintenance crew to clean up. And knowing them, they would complain endlessly.
"Why not take him to Belle Reve? Or riker's? Hell, why not a hospital?"
Morrison had been working as a guard for the last 20 years. The building they were on was for the Clean Up crew.
A company under Lexcorp which had government contracts to 'clean up' after Cape fights that seemed to happen on a weekly basis.
That meant clearing out debris in the aftermath of Superman fighting Toyman, Superman disarming a bomb, Superman blowing out a fire, Superman stopping an alien invasion, Superman vs Lex, Superman vs Brainiac, or even Superman vs Lex and Brainiac.
That was a thing that had happened.
Last December, Lex And Braniac merged, and a part of the city's population was sent into a simulation for the better part of a month.
Morrison's cousin was one of them.
In response to Morrison's reasonable question, the driver shrugged in ignorance.
"Cops say the dumb idiot got his ass kicked by Superman's kid."
The driver went off tanget, a hint of giddiness appearing in his tone.
"Unfortunately or if you ask ne, fortunately, the kid couldn't hold back his strength and headed up breaking almost every bone in Mammoth's body. I bet he's grounded by Big Blue as we speak."
'And so Lex saw a chance to either salvage Mammoth's body for one of his experiments...or wanted to hide from the world what Superboy had done. It wasn't a secret Lex had a vested interest in the young boy. And it certainly hadn't escaped anyone keen that the two looked...a bit similar.'
Morrison intuited, but said nothing, merely glinting his teeth and presenting the same public friendly smile he always had on.
His boss i.e Lex Luthor once said it looked good on him.(the only time Morrison had ever even met the man)
What a liar...Morrison had screwed up teeth.
"You don't say?"
The balding Morrison said in rhetoric, signing off the delivery on the clipboard in his hands.
"I do."
The driver added, eager for a conversation.
Oh no. Morrison instantly regretted giving the talkative man a chance. Now he wasn't going to shut up.
Never had he wished for something to happen...
The load on the back of the cart shifted.
Then Mammoth's corpse sat up.
(Mammoth's P.O.V)
I looked down at myself. At the massive hands, a single finger bigger than my former body's dick.
My skin looks and feels like leather, only tougher and much much more durable.
I'm also covered in blood and although I can feel agony throughout my entire physique, this new body displays a sort of enhanced healing, based on the cracking sound coming from my chest.
My smashed in ribs mending. It's slow going but breathing is becoming easier and easier.
Until I stopped wheezing and take a deep breath.
Immediately, I became keenly aware of the energy running through me.
Cursed energy. Just like he said.
Oh this is...going to be gooood.
In my peripheral, I noticed I wasn't alone. There were two people staring up at me in horror.
A pot bellied man in a red checkered shirt, who wilted and fell on his but shaking in fear, and a balding black man who shuddered as my gaze landed on him.
Hands shaking, the latter, that I now noticed was dressed in a guard's uniform, grabbed a radio strapped to his hip, bringing it to his mouth.
"Are you sure you want to do that?"
Thunder in the form of a voice rumbled out.
I rubbed my throat. I could get used to this voice.
"By the time you call it in, you'll be dead."
I warned, grabbing the edge of the trailer I seemed to be on and stepping off it.
The guard hesitantly begun to lower the radio. I couldn't let word get out that whoever this body belonged to was up and about. Not before I ushered in the main event.
"Oh god..."
The other man grabbed a cross hanging off his neck.
"S-stay away."
I approached them slowly, like a lion stalking it's prey.
The guard started backing away, as I stopped before the first guy, grabbing him by his shoulders and setting him up onto his feet.
The terrified man was breathing heavily as I loomed over him.
"See, I'm a good guy. I don't want to hurt you...I just wanna go home."
I showed them the blood covering my chest.
"As you can see, I've had a rough day. So why don't you put down the Radio and let me walk?"
The two of them relaxed somewhat- with the guard fully lowering the radio.
I spun, looking around at where I was.
"W-what do you want?"
The Guard asked, clearly wondering what I was still doing here?
"Looking for cameras..."
I answered honestly.
And the good news was that...there were none at all!
Double good! Just like he said, I would have a grace period of a few days before the League and/or authorities took note of me.
By then, hehehe. It will be too late.
"W-why?"
The Guard stuttered out, wisely beginning to back away.
"So that I can make a clean escape of course."
I said like it was the obvious thing.
"Oh that makes sense."
The guy close to me, rooted in place by the massive hand I had on his shoulders sighed in relief.
"Oh and so that I can kill you. Can't leave witnesses you know."
I added, grabbing his head and without hesitation pulling off his head from his body, spine still attached.
The shower of blood that hit me activated my cursed technique and a burst of strength filled me.
Then I whipped the head by the spine a few times, before sending it flying towards the guard escaping in wild panic, the radio in his hips forgotten due to fear.
The head connected with his head with a sickening crunch and he fell to the ground, a pool of blood spreading out.
I leisurely strolled towards his crawling form, grabbing the clip board he had dropped on the ground.
"Acquisition Form huh? Load B6205. Wow."
I stepped on his knee, crushing it under my foot.
"Aahh!!"
He let out a guttural scream.
"Reduced to a mere load. Business must be booming for you guys."
The guard whimpered, hand going for the Radio.
I let him grab it then just before he could press on the transmitter, my punch tore a hole through his back and out of his chest.
Another burst of energy and I straightened up.
Now then, I have a city to destroy.
-0-
Once outside, the sun shining down on me felt therapeutic. My body had healed up enough that I could output 80% of my power without a problem.
Which meant...it was time.
I brought my hands forward, my massive freaking hands, muscles twitching veins twining. All with power
God I love this body.
A pink shrouded energy, something only I could see materialized around my body, streaming into my hands.
A maniacal smile lit up my face.
"It's TIME TO SEE WHO WINS! MAHORAGA OR THE ENTIRE JUSTICE LEAGUE!"
The incantation that followed, flowed out smoothly,
"With this treasure, I summon..." ( 布 ふ 瑠 る 部 べ 由 ゆ 良 ら 由 ゆ 良 ら , Furube Yurayura)
An explosion went off from the general direction of the inner city.
