Chapter 20: Vs The Super Cousins (1/2)

(Holl's P.O.V)

"Master..."

Shade called out from behind, ruining the whole atmosphere I was going for.

Paired up with the first interruption, the terror seemed to bleed out from the crowded ball room.

"What is it?"

I sighed out, knowing exactly what he wanted to say. He had finished collecting the loot and we could now leave.

Before he could respond, I cut him off with a dismissive snort—no louder than a baby's snore.

It showcased my growing proficiency in harnessing the Pet Pet fruit's power.

Back to Shade,

Foolish minion.

He misunderstood why we were doing this.

"We're not here for the riches Richard."

I used his real name, making his blood pressure elevate and his face pale considerably.

Particularly with the tentacle playfully waving in the air above him, lightly tapping his loyal minion's head.

It served as a gentle reminder not to interrupt me again and also because admittedly, it was rather adorable; the notion that he could play at being a Supervillain without dirtying his hands, how naive.

I should nip that in the bud.

Briefly shifting my focus from the hostages, I leaned down, closing the distance to his face. In a feeble attempt to pull away, he tensed as I gripped his face firmly in both of my hands.

Wide black eyes under sunken sockets met my own amused ones. It was better to get this out of the way now, rather than later.

"Shade, let's cut the shit. You're not working for some run-of-the-mill villain. I'm not good, I'm not bad—heck, I'm not even a person. Feeling human? Civility? I suck at it all. I harbor neither hate nor love for you or anyone else. Every move I make is just a twisted whim designed to kill my boredom." I explained with a chilling nonchalance.

"See the chaos around us?" I gestured at the terrified crowd, cowering as far away from us as possible.

"It's not about logic or order. It's about seizing power and wielding it in the most selfish manner imaginable."

This party consisted of politicians and there was no better example of this than them.

Shade nodded in acceptance but he wasn't fooling me. I could see his lack of understanding through his gaze.

I sighed, releasing his face. A casual hum restored his ability to speak.

Immediately, he bowed to me in fear and reverence.

"Forgive me, my Master."

I dismissed him with a wave, directing the tentacles to propel me toward the crowd.

If words failed to reach Shade and break him of his naivety, actions would articulate my intentions.

Scared eyes followed me cautiously. The fear was slowly coming back.

"Ahem."

I cleared my throat, ensuring that the attention on me was universal.

"I apologize for this, ladies and gentlemen but I need your lives to teach my minion a very important lesson."

For a second, I was met with confusion.

The tips of my hair tentacle legs, too long, hair tentacles? No. Hair legs, too vague.

How about, Spider Tencs!

The tips of my Spider Tencs shot out through the crowd, stabbing through bodies, eviscerating flesh and grinding bones.

Screams instantly sounded out from the entire room, the hostages trying their best to escape. Only for a net of electric energy to surround the edges of the chamber.

I used my spider tencs to skitter above them, shooting out long and thin strands of hardened hair, turning bodies into pin cushions.

Some among the crowd carried weapons and within Their ranks, only one person had the audacity to try and shoot at me.

Gun shots resounded across the chamber, bullets flying my way from the left.

They were good shots too, bullets barely missing my head before I conjoined the strands into a thick darker shield that blocked my side.

I felt the impact spread across the shield made of hair strands, the projectiles digging through the durable weave of hair, only to stop before they could reach me.

A spider tenc shot towards the shooter, ensnaring her body and immobilizing her.

In a few seconds, there were only 5 people left alive in the entire chamber.

"Don't look away."

I addressed Shade, who had averted his gaze from the massacre.

A bloodied hair tip landed on his chin, forcefully turning his head around despite the fact I could have done it using a simple command.

I saw him shiver in revulsion as the blood dripped down his chin to his neck.

A spider tenc, the one gripping the barely breathing shooter, dragged her toward me. My hair twisted around her like a snake, tightening its coils.

Her mouth opened and closed in a wordless scream, the glasses on her eyes were cracked with a few shards stabbed into her wide and bloody eyes.

Too bad. She had pretty green eyes.

Lastly, a badge which had her name, Vicki Vale and her profession, reporter, hang from her neck.

"Can't tear your eyes away, can you?" I inquired of Shade, who seemed captivated by the unfolding spectacle with a mix of horror and fascination.

"Can you believe I have never killed anyone before?"

I added, pulling Vicki closer to my minion. I had to show him. He had to see.

"Indirectly? Sure. But I always thought of it as a hassle to do the deed myself. Yet a few seconds ago...without hesitation or remorse, I just murdered 56 people in cold blood."

I exerted enough force through the spider tenc, squeezing the woman's body into pulp. Her head exploded into blood and brain matter.

Some of it landed on Shade, with one of Vicki's green eye dropping into his hands.

A shuddering breath left him as he trembled in disgust.

"Now do you understand?"

I questioned.

He inhaled deeply.

And when he looked up at me, his eyes this time...held a little madness within.

"I do, Master."

Well...color me impressed.

"Monster," the word reached me from behind, eliciting a smirk as I turned around.

"Almost forgot about you..."

My new pet was knelt on a blood soaked floor, a wide range of emotions passing through her face.

There was horror, fear, revulsion, confusion but most importantly anger.

So much fire in her...I.want to extinguish it.

(General P.O.V)

(Mercy Graves)

"What do you think of him Mercy?"

Luthor asked, one hand placed behind his head.

The billionaire supervillain was dressed in a wooly bath robe, laid out on a recliner, and with an attendant massaging his feet.

Mercy stood by his side like always, holding a tray with an expensive wine bottle.

Her gaze was fixed on the expansive screen in front of them. One that showcased the Mayor's charity event, now under Maestro's hostile control.

They had been watching the situation unfold through the cameras rigged around the chamber.

"Impulsive."

Mercy said after a while, eyes narrowed at Maestro.

"Really?"

Luthor queried, taking a small sip of his glass.

"He tore apart 56 people, including the city assembly, prominent buainessmen and the Mayor. The only one he left alive was Lane. And who knows what he has planned for her. He's uncontrollable."

"I dare say that makes him an asset."

Luthor's statement confused Mercy.

"I don't understand Lex."

She spoke up.

"What's better, an effective but dangerously risky weapon or a marginally less effective one that is safe and easy to use?"

Luthor asked.

Mercy opened her mouth to answer but stopped herself.

"At first glance, it might come off as a simple query. What good is a weapon that puts you at as much risk as your adversary? Yet, upon closer inspection, one realizes that, used strategically, the worst-case scenario is mutual destruction – a near certainty of not losing nor winning."

"That's the charm of Maestro for us. Also, there's another reason why I find him indispensable," Luthor reasoned.

The last portion of his statement grabbed his assistant's attention.

"What other reason?"

Luthor did not answer straight away. This time he took a large gulp of the contents of his glass before speaking.

"Have you ever found this reality to be...strange?"

The billionaire asked.

The massage woman working on his feet paused briefly, before continuing.

"Strange?"

Mercy repeated, followed by a casual shrug.

"Is that not the norm? We have flying people and talking apes."

"Much as I appreciate your garb, Mercy Dear, that is not what I mean."

Luthor turned to face her, a serious look passing across his visage.

"I've faced Superman in battle over 500 times, 512 to be precise. With each encounter, I've crafted strategies, revised plans, and prepared for chaos. By the laws of probability, you'd think I'd have won at least half of those altercations." He explained in simpler terms, taking a second to adjust himself.

"And yet...I have never once won against him."

He mused,

"Short fights sure, but nothing has ever kept him down. Not Kryptonite, not magic, not a red sun. Not really. Whether it's through his friends or a convenience...he's essentially unbeatable. It's not natural. Makes you wonder...what rules of morality govern this strange world? A place where Evil and Good are black and white."

"You lost me boss."

Mercy told him.

Luthor said nothing. He sat up straighter, placing the empty glass on the tray Mercy was holding.

He turned to the screen, where Maestro was holding up Lois by her throat.

"Looks like the Finale is about to begin. I wonder...Maestro, can you truly whether the harsh conditions that come with opposing good in this strange world? Can your chaos flip the scales and give villainy... A true win?"

(Holl's P.O.V)

The little pet turned tail and ran.

Smart.

Anyone else would have been paralyzed by fear when surrounded by bodies and blood, but I was happy to see she didn't lose the fire in her.

Of course, escape was impossible.

Before she could make her exit through the door, Livewire materialized in front of her, obstructing the path.

"What's the rush for?"

I asked, hands in my pocket as I slowly approached her, body suspended in the air through my Spider tencs.

The little pet looked in between my electric minion, who had streaks of lightning flashing menacingly around her hands, and me.

"Stay back! I'm warning you."

She reached into her purse, pulling out pepper spray.

I raised my eyebrows in amusement, invading her personal space.

"Go on. Use it."

I goaded, fully leaving myself open.

"You're- you're crazy."

She stuttered, then immediately aimed for my eyes before spraying my face with agony.

Or it would have been, if it wasn't for the fact I couldn't feel pain. Not with the Pet Pet collar wrapped around my big toe.

Using the Pet Pet fruit, I was able to order my body and mute specific sensations. It was a different application of Seimei Kikan.

"Well, that didn't work."

I snorted, coiling a tentacle around her neck and torso, immobilizing and raising her into the air.

Terrified but still defiant eyes met my own.

"Choose. Death or Eternal Servitude."

I laid out her available options.

She squirmed in my hold, barking out,

"I would rather die!"

"I knew you would say that."

A chuckle left me.

"Too bad you're of use to me alive than dead."

My palm begun to glow with an emerald coating. Her face fell, eyes wide with delicious terror.

"I'm not going to beg."

She bit out.

I snickered, she would learn soon. My hand inched forward,

"Welcome to your new..."

Above us, the roof gave in, bits and pieces tumbling down as something heavy crashed through, making the room tremble.

The fancy chandelier, once hanging all posh, decided to join the party, careening down in a wild dance right toward us.

I swung out a long tentacle, striking the air with the force of a cracked whip.

Thawck!

The dust and shards of glass heading my way were expelled from my personal space, revealing the new arrival.

Two pairs of glowing red eyes glared at me.

Scratch that, there were two of them.

(General P.O.V)

Connor was working on Pa and Ma's Tractor, which had a clogged filter, when he heard a piercing noise that caused him to wince in pain.

Ma was bringing over fresh lemon juice when Connor's figure dashed right past her with urgency, slightly ruffling her clothes and hair.

In seconds, the half Kryptonian was 5 miles away from Smallville headed for Metropolis.

That sound...it was like a dog whistle, only the frequency used stood out to Kryptonians under the yellow sun.

His momentum carried him down towards a field of corn, landing at the very edge, before pushing off once more.

The leap cleared several more miles and in a few minutes, Metropolis appeared on the horizon, spurring Connor on.

******

A series of impacts rang out from the commercial district of Metropolis.

The entire street had been abandoned once it became a battlefield for the fight between Supergirl and Metallo.

The Kryptonian's back fell through the store front of a jewelry shop, breaking the glass doors and overturning the gem cases. The same store Metallo had been trying to steal from.

"Give up girlie. You're not Big Blue. You can't beat me."

The human turned Robot gloated, stalking towards her with less than good intentions.

Supergirl would normally not be stuck at a disadvantage. The only issue was what Metallo had inside his chest.

The emerald glare of Kryptonite washed through the storefront, hitting Supergirl and weakening her even more.

"It's my lucky day."

Metallo chuckled.

"I get to kill a Kryptonian."

The Kryptonite within his chest started glowing with irradiated energy. Then it stopped, before twin beams of green energy were launched from his gaze.

Supergirl closed her eyes, awaiting her death. Only for Superboy to come crashing down on top of Metallo.

The Robot found itself burried onto the concrete of the sidewalk.

With one swift motion, Superboy thrust his hand through Metallo's back, extracting the Kryptonite with a decisive jerk. He then hurled it skyward, beyond the atmosphere and into the vast expanse of outer space.

Light left Metallo's eyes, with Superboy ignoring him in favor of his cousin, who without the weakening effect of Kryptonite was able to stand on unsteady legs.

"You heard it too, I assume?"

Supergirl groaned out, leaning on her cousin's clone for support.

The latter nodded gravely.

"There are only two people with that kind of device."

"Jimmy is one. But he's out of town following a story."

Kara pointed out.

"Which leaves..."

"Lois."

Superboy stated, turning his attention toward the general direction the sound was coming from.

"She's in trouble."

Fast forward a few more seconds, and both Kryptonian's were crashing a party, coming through the roof of the building.

Immediately, the stench of death found their nostrils and Kara was barely able to stop herself from vomiting.

The biggest reason being the woman held captive by a Supervillain with long and thick black hair.

"Lois!"

Kara couldn't stop herself from calling out with urgent concern.

"Oh?"

Maestro muttered in realization. He was actually holding onto Superman's girlfriend?

Oh wait,

She had an engagement ring on her finger.

The big blue boyscout had already proposed to her.

That just made things even better.

No wonder the Kryptonians didn't fail to arrive. Well, Luthor had been right.

And now the real show was about to begin.

(A few hours ago)

We were seated on Luthor's office.

Mercy flanked her boss's side with an impassive expression. I would occasionally catch her staring at me before she would snort and look away.

On both my left and right, were Livewire and Shade.

"So, what was it you needed me to do again?"

I questioned the Supervillain, using my pinky finger to clean out my ears.

Luthor didn't seem to mind my easy going nature, neither was I keen on standing on formality.

"I require you to retrieve blood samples from the only two Kryptonians, apart from Superman, who've decided to settle in Metropolis," Luthor replied.

Both my minions tensed behind me. Theyknew whi he was talking about.

Meanwhile, I sat up straighter, the beginnings of a grin tugging at the corner of my lips.

"That sounds like a blast!" I clapped my hands, getting up.

"Alright, Lex, no more small talk. I've got a party to hit, and trust me, it's gonna be a wild ride!"
