the first chapter, paragraph, book cover, image, or video, you had seen/read that captivated you into SciFi? If too personal, then Maybe non-spoiler thoughts on the pending Dune 2 that should be out this year? For me, it was seeing three ships approach a cloud in space, I was too young to know what the rest of Star Trek the motion picture was about, yet that image of the 3 ships in space. Then not long after was seeing a refinery platform approaching a planet before my parents discovered me sneak peeking the TV and pushed me off to bed. Much later on I discovered it was the ship from Alien that was so vast and impressive, had me convinced that is where I want to go when I grow up. Your first experience or Dune 2 thoughts?

I know you're a big fan of the TBP and its Dark Forest explanation of the Fermi Paradox. While captivating, that's just one of the many Fermi Paradox solutions. But along the spectrum from the less to the more complex, there seems to be a strong preference for cooperation rather than confrontation: cell structures, which seem to have been separate organisms, became vastly more successful when assembled into cells; then multi-cellular organisms being cooperations of individual cells; then societies, be it human or otherwise, seem to have a qualitative advantage over solitary individuals; then whole societies cooperating in bodies like the EU or UN. What are your thoughts about why this tendency would or wouldn't carry over to the galactic scale?

Which comic series or graphic novel series would you be interested in covering? I’d love to hear your thoughts on something like “The Invisibles” or Alan Moore’s “Top 10”

Any thoughts on what a successful adaptation of Project Hail Mary would look like? Especially considering that most of the initial stages of the book consist of memory rediscovery etc as an essential plot vehicle.

There's been a flurry of excitement in the UFO community recently with a seemingly credible "whistleblower" from within the US intelligence community coming forward claiming that the US and other governments have crashed UFOs and bodies of "Non Human Intelligences" in their possession. Care to don your tinfoil hat and weigh in?

G'day Quinn, I hope that life is treating you well. I have just started reading James S. A. Corey's 'The Expanse' novels and half way through the first novel. I am impressed in quite a few ways. I have not watched it. But this has brought up a common question my friends and I go through quite regularly. In your view, do you think it is better to read the literature first then watch the movie/video media or vice-versa? Just curious. Cheers Donovan
