Weekly Update #1: Moving Out - Friday, June 29th, 2018
Added 2018-07-03 03:29:29 +0000 UTCHello, all you who stuck with me through my long hiatus!
I’ve decided that, to keep my workload manageable, I’m going to be rolling out additions to this Patreon one at a time. And you’re looking at the first one! Weekly updates, written by me, about my life, accessible to all my patrons!!
I’ll eventually be announcing this on my wider blog, but for now, these updates will be a secret between me and those of you that have been with me through the hiatus. ;) I’m dividing this update into three general sections; as I go forward, please let me know if there are potential sections you’d like to see, or existing sections that you’d rather not!
WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO?
I (and my partner, Aidan) have been packing up all our stuff into a moving pod. For those who aren’t aware, Aidan and I are moving across the country so that Aidan can start grad school! It’s all very exciting and nervewracking!!
The plan is for the pod to go into storage, while we land at my parents’ house for the next month while we try to finalize housing (we haven’t found a place to live yet!! aaaaagh!) Then, with luck, we will proceed from my parents’ house in the California bay area to our new digs in western Massachusetts.
WHAT HAVE I BEEN WORKING ON?
I wish I could start these updates on a stronger artistic note, but apart from a lone diary comic, all the art I’ve produced this week has been abstract scribbles that take up the whole page and fanart for the max2019/pornbot/angel arg. (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out the full summary of the arg here!)
I’d add photos here, but pretty much everything I drew is already on my tumblr! Instead, here is some very old art that I decorated my folders for Shakespeare summer camp with:

I believe these are from when I was 9 and 13 respectively, but I'm not certain.
WHAT HAVE I BEEN ENJOYING?
An unordered and incomplete list of things I’ve particularly enjoyed the past week:
- Kirby Air Ride. If you ever wondered what my three all-time biggest comfort games are, they are Kirby Air Ride, Binding of Isaac, and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. I cycle through phases where I play any or none of them, and right now, I’m on a HUGE Kirby Air Ride kick. I used to exclusively play in City Trial mode, but I’ve branched out into Air Ride mode lately.
- Max2019. I mentioned above that I’ve been drawing a lot of fanart for this ARG. As you may or may not be aware, it mostly took place over the weekend before last. I enjoyed following the action as it unfolded, and felt very inspired to draw fanart, which I haven’t done in a long time! I unfortunately missed my opportunity to participate in the teleportation ritual (purely due to my own anxiety), but I feel like getting to follow the ending happening in real time made up for that! Max2019 was a great experience, and it makes me very curious about ARGs in general! I might try to find more to participate in in the future.
- The Simpsons: Season 2 with DVD Commentary. I like the Simpsons, I like commentary, and the second season is my favorite season. So, Aidan borrowed the DVD from our friend and ripped the episodes for me. I like watching them! Fun fact, I’d never seen a single episode of The Simpsons until this very year, when I got sick of not understanding references to it. I then watched every episode (EVERY. ONE.) in a half-spite, half-fascination fueled marathon that lasted several weeks. My favorite characters are Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Ms. Krabappel.
Thank you all for sticking with me while I haven’t been around! It means more to me than I can say that you have that kind of faith in me and my art.
Hope you all have a good week!!💖💞
Love,
Dave
