(7/14/2020) Future Plans

Testing has taken longer than normal, and while I'll be finished with my own testing of the game before today is over, I likely won't get feedback from my testers before that.

I wanted to take today to go over my future plans with the game and the patreon in general. First I wanted to let you all know that I don't plan on charging patrons for this first release. I wanted it to be a "welcome back" gift sort of thing, and since a lot has changed about the game I don't want to charge people for something they haven't touched before.

As for future updates, I'm planning on updating the game whenever significant content has been added, and not after a particular time frame. This is due to the project now being officially a "hobby" and not a job, so the amount of work I can do on it won't be consistent. At the moment I work from home due to the virus pandemic, but because of details I can't expand on that may change in anywhere from a matter of weeks to months. As of right now, I plan on updates taking longer than a month, and potentially even two months. This all depends on how much work I want to aim for on a regular basis.

This is a very long winded way of me saying that even though I'm returning to development publicly, I won't be able to reach the same productivity I had back when I was first working on SQI or when I started SQII. I want to give you all transparency on what you'll be supporting and expecting of me.

Now that boring stuff is out of the way, let's get back into the game plans. I'm expecting the major towns in the game to be split in 2 updates. The first covers setting up the actual design, the main characters, and the main quest and the second filling the blanks with side content and the parts in between towns. I'm planning on expanding upon Alumin and Iron City in a similar way as I am with Tungsten currently, because I'm not satisfied with what I had thought up originally and I know I can do better now. In fact I already have most of a new plot for Alumin thought up in my head.

Lastly, I'm curious with what you all think about me diversifying my output on patreon. I have side projects like art, animations, and smaller games I want to make and if I can split my patreon to cover those things as well I'd be able to justify spending time on them. I'll open a separate poll to get an idea of what people thing.
