3/22/18 Stream Progress and Other Developments

Hi everyone. This post is meant to show more of what was accomplished recently along with some changes to how spanking scenes will play out in the game. 

Firstly, as you can see from the video, I now have the soreness and general spanking mechanics finished. I have also included an effort slider bar for the spanking option, which allows you to control the hardness for which you deliver the next set of spanks. At the moment, it only changes the numbers behind everything, but in the future it will change things more aesthetically, such as having + effort increase the volume and speed, while having - effort does the opposite. I've also made it so that the amount of slaps given is tracked for the whole scene and that the exhaustion used from each slap is recorded as well.

Now for the changes. In the previous versions of the game, I had the "talk" option be something you do on demand which would initiate a conversation. Due to the variability in approaches you could take, as well as the many types of personalities that existed in the games characters, this amount of variety was very overwhelming, and the stress of it was one of the primary reasons I switched engines to Construct. This became more apparent the other day during the stream where I was tackling the "talk" option. After a good amount of reflecting and brainstorming, I have developed what I think will be a more simple system that still maintains enough potential for variety but maintains the ability to support unique scenes. I'll describe what the typical scene will look like for when the player is giving a spanking:

First, the scene starts and the details are loaded depending on variables in the overworld. An opening line of text is said that also depends on this.

The player then starts in an attitude depending on their behavior and dominance stats. This attitude is what determines the way the interactions between the player and NPC play out. The talk option is now the attitude selection option, where you can change your active attitude. 

After every action by the player (baring, implement changing, etc.) a conversation is started which depends on the players attitude and the NPC's personality. In addition, randomly a small conversation will start that also depends on these values. These conversations happen in the background, and don't require player interaction. 

In addition to all of this, I am lowering the possible personalities from 25 to 9, where instead of dominance and maturity varying from 1-5, they now vary from 1-3. I made this change because it will significantly reduce the amount of work put into the talking relations and because there was never a big enough difference between dominance and neutrality for a half-way point to be necessary. 

This change to how the scene functions can also be applied to the scenes where the player is spanked will little change. This change is good because not only does it make each scene less predictable while maintaining some control still, it allows me to replace much of the dialogue with unique lines for scenes brought on by quests and such.

Since this is the next step I'll be working on, it may be a while before the next update or live stream. However, I'm eager to start working on this and find out if it is still viable.
