2/14/18 and Trial 3 (Talking Animation Test)
Added 2018-02-15 02:43:42 +0000 UTCGood evening everybody (or whatever time it is for you),
Somehow, I managed to get everything I wanted to complete for this next trial done by tonight. The whole set up of the game is the same as the last version with some significant changes. The animations are pretty choppy as they are, and I don't know if they'll be getting any better in that regard. I'll be making more adjustments with the placements of all of the features at a later time, but this should give you an idea of what the future will bring with regards to these animations. The new font isn't permanent either, I'll be experimenting with what looks best in the future versions of the game. My next steps will be to finally start working on the menu of the game, and when that is finished I'll be able to work on the equipment system! This step will probably be more significant than this week's, so you might be able to expect that update by the end of next weekend, it's hard to call.

Aside from that, I also decided on the setting/story of the side project I mentioned. I'm pretty excited about it, since it is probably my most unique and creative setting I've ever come up with (although that isn't much to say when I've worked on fantasy settings the last 2 years or so). I don't want to spoil much before I've released anything, but it will be the first RPGmaker spanking game based in a modern/semi-future setting and will have an underlying mechanic that will be simple to implement and fun to play with. For fun, let me set up a contest. Whoever can guess the setting/story first in the comments, will get to design a character for the game.

It will be great to see something more futuristic, since it is so different from most things on aotk right now, curious to see what the mechanic is and to see you working on a theme you haven’t done before

2018-02-15 13:18:21 +0000 UTCI was actually thinking about that game when I made this comment lol. I played the first episode of that game, but I remember not liking it as much as Potion Wars. I'll probably check out how it's going now sometime.

2018-02-15 03:25:28 +0000 UTCAka has a game with that setting (although not in RPGmaker) so I won't go with something along those lines. It would be be interesting to do, but not really suited for a jrpg engine.

2018-02-15 03:24:20 +0000 UTCThat's quite something. I rejiggered the collision in this last update, so I'll be sure to fix it next time.

2018-02-15 03:23:06 +0000 UTCAh I figured out something about why I can sometimes go where I shouldn't - if you are holding up or down while walking into an object, and press left or right without releasing the up/down button, you can move onto an object.

2018-02-15 02:57:35 +0000 UTCGlad to see you're making progress! As for the side project, I'm gonna guess that it's a superhero story set in a metropolitan area (I don't think I've seen an superhero rpgmaker game yet, at least not a fetish one). No matter what it is, I look forward to it with bated breath!
