1/18/18 and New Dialogue Format

Yo mah peeps.

No development update today, I had a full day of school and not much time to program along with my other adult obligations. However, I did have time to experiment and brainstorm a bit with how I will be doing my conversations in the future. 

What you see above is a rough template on how things will look. Since I'm now in construct, there isn't a dedicated space for facial expressions or portraits. Because of this, I figured why not move onto something I wanted to do in RPGmaker for a while anyway. These more full size character portraits will be what I plan on using in the future. On the left side will be your character, and on the right will be an NPC. This is a similar system to how a lot of more modern JRPG's or visual novels work. Naturally, the portraits will show all of the detail that character possesses, and can change during the scene. I plan on even shifting the pictures up a little, so you can see at least part of the butt region, in case I want to add a "pants down and red" version for post punishment scenes. 

The amount of work for this won't be very substantial either, the player character will change depending on the equipment, and in the pause menu there will be a full size window where you can view what they look like at any given time. I'll only need to make one picture of the body, and then a separate one depending on the expression which I'll swap out as I need them. This same system would work with character creation in the future as well, since I could just set eyes, hair or other features to separate sprites that are called depending on your starting settings.
