Reflection upon experimentation.

A late night special update. I've been messing with the behavior, control, and familiarity options in an npc's dialogue for the first time, and I have to say this new system opens up a lot of potential for future work. I've only reworked the Inn keeper in Tungsten slightly, and have made huge adjustments in this one character. Currently, I have set up 6 familiarity levels. Each increase in the level will require a more bold action to bond with the npc. Your first increase from 0-1 just involves introducing yourself. You won't be able to go past 3 without a spanking event between you two. The final increase from 4-5 will involve a special dialogue option or event which the player really connects strongly with the npc. An npc who is on lvl 0 doesn't even know your name, lvl 1 they only know your name and your job, lvl 2 they know a bit about you and recognize you at a distance, lvl 3 they consider you a familiar friend who they can chat openly with, lvl 4 is considered a close friendship between you two (and potentially some romantic feelings), lvl 5 is borderline couple status where they will be open to just about anything with you. Only the more important characters will have that level open. And those already married or in a relationship will be locked out of lvl 5 with you. Following this, I have the idea of adding an option at startup to engage or disengage the possibility for same-sex relationships. There will still be no actual sexual content, and all spanking related events will be available all the same, but the switch will change some of the dialogue from strictly disciplinarian to more romantic speech.

I'd like to hear what you think about this arrangement, since it's still early enough that an entire overhaul isn't out of the question.
