Mystic Ville - 7/7/2022 DevLog - New Main Menu & Gallery Design

Heyeyeyey, everyone,  how you doin'?

It's been 2 weeks since the last report, we skipped last week's report because there really isn't anything newsworthy to report.

And if you noticed it with the past recent posts, we dropped the "Weekly Worklog" naming and went with just "DevLog". It's to anticipate these situations of the month where there isn't anything major to report and then we're pulling our hairs out with "Oh no, it's that time of the week, what do we report?!"

Other than that, I'm also starting to doubt how I wrote the DevLogs... is it effective to write this way? I meant splitting the reports into separate sections: Writing, Art, Posing & Code. I haven't seen someone else write their logs this way (To be honest, it hurts me to write "No changes").

These past 2 weeks, NaFa had been working on the "branches" I could say... not routes, just variations of dialogues and minimal outcome changes, it still needs more editing so I'd leave it to him in the meantime.

Red is drawing a scene for Cynthia and will finish some lining for the backgrounds, then I will come to assist him in painting the backgrounds. (Yes, it's Cynthia again, she's my personal favorite :p ) Rest assured, she won't be the only one this time, but I'm down for a waifu war if you wish to challenge me!

And now, what I've been doing... I've been... lazy I guess and just messing around... while I'm messing around while waiting for the other team members to submit their work and then compile it. I booted up the game and realized that I'm not a fan of how the gallery screens look. I disliked it.

So... I figured I had to change it. I made a new design, along with a new main menu!

Here's how they look. I think they look better but who knows, it's my taste and preference.

These main menu design changes contribute to the Code section of the progress bar since they're mostly codes. But, these 5 points wasn't even planned, so I had to increase the total work done, we still have 5 more backgrounds to code and Allison & Chloe's Sprite + Character Viewer (Expression's not finished yet).  So code has been changed from 3/9 to 8/16.

And oh, I knew from the start that some of you will prefer the old main menu, so guess what, I didn't remove the old main menu, actually, I set them to random! The game will randomly pick which menu to load every time you launch the game! 

Other than that, Me & Red, we both have gone back to Chapter 1 and changed a scene... Not the story, but revised how the scene is illustrated I guess... Now, I know what you're thinking. You're already thinking about having to restart to see the scene.

Well... you don't have to worry about that! When Chapter 2 releases, the exact moment you loaded up your save, you'll get a prompt asking if you want to see the scene and then resume to Chapter 2, or just skip it and dive right into Chapter 2. (It's optional like I said, I only changed the illustration, not the story.)

TLDR: Red & NaFa is still working on their part, meanwhile I made a new main menu & gallery screen designs, plus Red & I revised a scene in Chapter 1 which you could see without restarting your playthrough.
