Asset Manager - Easy Guide // Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer & Affinity Publisher

Comments

Alles klar, Iveta.

LG Iveta

Hi Olivio, I have all my overlays, gradients, reference images and sky replacements organized in there so far.

Bruce

Thank you, Bob :)

Hi Kevin, yes, i did it like that in the past too. Assets can be handy, but having them just as files on your harddrive is useful too. Sadly the asset libraries are not shared between photo, designer and publisher. So you basically have to do it 3 times. UNLESS you create them in the Publisher instance of photo or designer, in which case you can use them in all 3 - for some strange reason. Good point about the saving of the files, i forgot to put that into the video: they are saved in a format that is only accessible to the affinity software and not a open folder structure. so you can't access the files via your desktop folders after they are imported. i hope they will change that in the future

Olivio Sarikas

Hi Bruce, thank you. Took me a time too to figure out a good use for it. Icons and Speech bubbles are somewhat limited, so i am very happy this also works for these effect textures :)

Olivio Sarikas

Hi Daniel, thank you :) Yes, you can shrink them first. However a larger size will assure that you can use them even with future formats and screen resolutions. Since Harddrive space is very cheap nowadays, i would rather opt for larger sizes :)

Olivio Sarikas

Olivio, do you know if the original files are copied to another location or just referenced when added to the asset manager?.

Bruce

Thanks Olivio, that was excellent. The possibilities are endless. You could have whole universes in there. Wouldn't it be better to shrink the assets first?

Daniel Brady

Thank you Olivio, another very helpful video. Perfect timing as was just building up my asset library and did not have a clue this feature existed.

Bruce

Thankyou Olivio, a nice introduction to keeping all your assets under control. I do have paper textures but I always 'placed' them when I wanted to use them. Now, they will be to hand at a click of the mouse. BTW, are the asset managers different for Photo, Designer and Publisher and if they are, is there a quick way of making them the same?

Kevin Phillips

Thank you, Patricia. Happy i could help :)

Olivio Sarikas

Excellent Olivio!! Very helpful!

Bob Domine

Terrific tutorial. This is practical stuff; I learned a lot.
