Affinity Photo WORK BOOK - Review / Should you buy it?

Comments

Hi Bob, thank you, that's great. :) There is some cool stuff in there to play around with. Which also remind me that i need to do more tutorials again with dowloadable files. A lot of the recent videos where about technical things only.

Hi Kevin, great to hear i could spark your interest in the book again. I will do the AD book review soon. Also some AD tutorials are coming too. :)

Hi Olivio, I also thank you! I do have the book as well and I do like it. I purchased it near the time I did Affinity and at a discount as it had just been published. This was before I found your channel and for a while it and the Affinity videos were my only "training." As to the book, one thing I really liked were the downloadable resource files. Always good to check my results against. I also thought the book exercises did well at exploring many of Affinities features. For me, it was definitely worth the money. Thanks again for the review!

Hi Olivio, thanks for the review. I have had the book for some time now and I started at the beginning to work my way through. Life then got in the way and it stayed on the shelf until now. You have re-kindled my interest in it. I do like to learn at a slower pace and experiment along the way. In terms of Designer, I too have the software and the book, so would very much welcome your review of the book as well as some 'cross-over' videos - I think that it would also make your channel unique.

Hi Greg, you are probably right. There is some good stuff in there and great inspirations, but probably, with your experience, the new knowhow might be far between. About Affinity Designer. I think i will try a video and see how people react to it. Probably a introduction, so people understand what the difference is between Vector and Pixels. I think once people see it, they probably want to at least try it, because it's very playful. A bit more like Lego.

Olivio, thank you for doing this. I’m not sure the book is worth the money for me. It looks like it was designed too much for beginners although I would like to try some of the advanced projects. Yes, the book has advantages over electronic forms. I have only one screen, so I have to switch back and forth to go through a lesson. I do a lot with Designer now, so I would definitely like to see you add this to future tutorials. I don’t know how many of your viewers have both programs. Perhaps you should send out a poll to find out. I wouldn’t want you to loose subscribers who felt left out. Thanks again, this was a good job. One criticism would be that holding up the book was a bit awkward. It should have been on a table with proper lighting.
