Affinity Photo - use Light & Color to tell a Story

Learn to understand how Light and Color can be used to create a more satisfying photo and tell a story. In most cases we fell more satisfied with a photo if we understand what the photographer wants to show us. Meaning that the eye is guided towards certain areas of the image. In addition to that, our eyes are build in a way that has more focus, contrast and attention to the area we are looking at. So a photo replicating that experience can feel more natural and satisfying.

Thanks Olivio, thats really helpful :))

That is actually a good point. Usually things have less color in the distance because of all the dust, fog and other particles in the air that make it look grey or blue. With a sunset, like in this photo i would argue that the color is intenser near the horizon though, because it is visually closer to the sun or sky affecting it. so our eye captures more of the colorful reflecting light. If you look at it like a mirror, the landscape reflects the orange/red part of the horizon near the horizon, while further away it reflect more of the sky above that is still blue or already dark. that said, this doesn't apply to every photo and is depended on the weather and other conditions like the layout of the landscape

Enjoyed that, thanks Olivio. Just one question - on the point of there being more colour in the distance in the image used: I often notice things seem to lack colour in the distance. Is this a point about the artistic intent to focus the eye and/or is it image dependent?

A great tutorial Olivio. The changes are subtle but so very effective! Thanks for sharing.
