Affinity Photo - File Export Intro

Learn what format to use, which algorithm gives the best quality and how much compression is needed. This intro will give you a lot of valuable information about BIT Depth, Resolution, DPI, File Size, Color Space, Vector-, Pixel-, Curve-Formats and what a GIF is.

There are a lot of things to know. How to get transparency. How to export for print or the internet. How to create a PDF ePaper. Also the resampling with "nearest neighbor", bilinear and bicubic. We will look at all of that and give you the answers to need to make the right decision for your export.

Hi Olivio! Wow - Excellent! - Even the Monitor to beer comparison. :)

Thank you, Greg. Like i said, when you are zoomed out, the fragments are mostly not visible - although that might change over time, as we get higher resolution screen and have to zoom in to make it fill the screen in a slideshow (as has happened with 1080p to 4k). That said, i was very surprised and shocked to see fragmentation in a 100% quality jpg save. I can't say this with certainty, but i don't think photoshop does that. It's strange.

Hi Olivio. This was a very useful tut. I am guilty of sticking with the presets for most exporting. I will do some experiments, as you showed here, and see if I can spot the effects they have. As I don’t do any printing these days, I’m mostly interested in web quality outputs. I think I have a tendency to ‘over specify’ -e.g., I always use 100% quality, unless the file size is very large. Even if I end up using the presets, I should know what all of those parameters mean. I definitely would want you to delve deeper into some of these areas.
