Affinity Photo - Abstract Light Strings

Learn how to create his amazing Light String or Light Fiber Design. I show you a super easy way to create it in Affinity Photo. There are so many options to create abstract images with this.

We are using the Twirl Brush in the Liquefy Persona to create these creative layers. Blend them with Lighten Layer Blend Mode. Creative Adjustment Filters like Curves, Split Toning and Levels with give it a even more amazing look.

This Tutorial was inspired by "Abstract Twisted Light Fibers Effect Photoshop Tutorial" from tutvid. His Tutorial is for Photoshop and doesn't work like that in Affinity Photo, so i made a AP version of it for you :) Watch the original here:

Affinity Photo - Abstract Light Strings

I'll give that a try. Yep, it's the "NX-01" from the show Enterprise from 2001-2004 or 5. ....Thanks for your words of encouragement. Basically to get the nebula tips white/grey I added a chroma/color reduction to the outside edge with an inverted selection on the flower/nebula layer, then feathered it really high to fade the efect of color reduction. I then masked it and brushed out edges to get the square framing to go away. Last, I added a point-source light efx to the center of the nebula. Again, thanks, and especially thanks for the tips and trick (I thanked you also on YT!) Those just help so much getting into the unused parts of Affinity! You are kind to share your pro knowledge!!

They do. You are welcome and have fun playing with them :)

Wow, that looks cool. Could you please post that in the community Tab her on Patreon too :) btw. Is that Star Trek? And if yes, how do you like the new Series. It's a lot different from what we have seen in the past. But not a bad direction

That said, thanks so much for the lesson! I love the colors using natural photography for abstracts. And they make great textures, too!

CJ Carpenter

Using the lesson and a pix of red and yellow roses, I made a space sci fi effect. Disclaimer; I own none of these pix. This is just for experience. Not for other distribution. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-puRtdzQs66Sl8yQcUmzR576GGIoIow-

Thank you, Kevin, looking forward to your creations :)

Hi William, i get the 3 circles, when i set my brush much larger than the canvas.

Olivio Sarikas

I have a question, though. When I see your brush on the screen, I see three concentric circles. On my PC, I see only one circle.

William H. Willis

Hi Olivio, yet more great techniques. I can see plenty of uses for this!

Kevin Phillips

Hi William, awesome! Looking forward to see what you will create with this :)

Olivio Sarikas

Awesome. I can picture something like this as a background for a portrait, and my imagination is running wild with ideas.
