Thank you Bruce. Happy this was so interesting to many people. Really gives me the confidence to do more talks like that :)

Excellent - a lot of though in this. Will make use of this in future :)

That's actually a good point. I think i should do a second part. Copyright might be a problem if the cover picture is totally unrelated to the content and/or stolen. There is a fair-use rule where you can use content when it is for educational or journalistic purposes, even if it is copyright protected. But that means the video must be directly about that content. For example playing copyrighted music in the background of a educational video about flower painting, does not count as fair use.

Who'd have thought that so much thought needs to go into such a thing? You didn't mention copyright. I noticed that many people tend to use a product logo (including in your case, the Affinity Photo logo). Are there rules or exceptions to this for such artwork?

Kevin Phillips

Thank you, Bob. Yup, a lot of Videos could have a lot better Thumbnails :)

Olivio Sarikas

Wow Olivio - What a Useful Tutorial!! There are obviously many out there that need this training! :-)

Good point. Same size as the video or better. I usually use 1080p

You forgot to mention, what should be the dimensions if the image? Does YouTube require a standard size or aspect ratio for the thumbnail?
