Luminar 2018 - Review - Before you buy!

Yes, i have the impression too. Lots of tools that are good but never perfect ;) I guess we need to keep buying them to get a good mix of the best qualities.

Sounds great. Yes, i also love creating things in AP more than just adjusting photos. I have Affinity Designer too, but not using it too much lately ;)

I have been using Luminar for quite awhile, and really like it. But I find that no single software (so far) is the best at everything. For example, I find that Paint Shop Pro works best for background removal and sky replacement, while I like Luminar for light adjustment and sun rays. For adding light rays like your recent tutorial, I thing Affinity Photo is the best option. Here are two pictures, the first out of the camera, the second edited in Luminar. (community page)

Hi Olivio, thank you for the review and drawing this to our attention. I think I'll stick with Affinity Photo as I have moved away from the 'photo fix' approach to being a bit more compositional. For the record I also have Affinity Designer on the Mac and iPad.

I have Affinity Designer too. Though i got to admit i use it way less than Affinity Photo. But it has some really nice tools :)

Thank you for this. It is a good idea to keep an eye on what other image processing software can do for us. I’ve begun teaching myself how to use Affinity Designer. I’m not sure where I will go with it, but I’m finally learning to use the pen tool (something I’ve avoided, up to now).
