Affinity Photo - BW Colorization Intro

Today I will show you how to colorize a Black & White Photo. As an Intro we will learn this by starting out with a color photo and then re-colorize it. This is a great way to learn about color, look and feel.
I will show you some handy tricks, shortcuts and tool setting to get better results and get comfortable with colorization. After doing these exercises you can jump at a BW picture and colorize it from the ground up with ease and confidence :)

Hi Kevin. Yes, this is thought as a training to get a good feeling for the colors and how to layer colors via opacity. I think it would be a bit to hard for people with no painting experience to do this and get the colors right. A tablet is always a good investment. There is so much more that can be done than with a mouse. Of course if you would own a iPad you could try one of the pens instead.

I do like the idea of taking a colour photo and using that as the basis for the B&W version. Of course, you get the colour palette for free. It's probably more challenging to start with a B&W photo and then use your imagination/creativity to create a new piece of art with the colours of your choice. BTW, you have given me the perfect excuse to get a digitising tablet!
