Dev Diary 015: Half-baked titties, sandboxes and VN's...
Added 2025-06-16 00:33:44 +0000 UTCHey everyone—just wanted to clear up some confusion from my last post.
There are two versions of the game:
🧭 Sandbox Mode and
📖 Visual Novel (VN) Mode
And they work very differently, which affects how content is structured.
As i have said before, the current script (which should have enough content for 4/5 chapters) is in SANDBOX FORMAT! The original idea was to release the sandbox first AND THEN the VN version. (The VN will still have THOUSANDS OF DIALOGUE OPTIONS!! Way more than any other fucking renpy game lol.)
Why did you decide to do VN first and then the sandbox Mr Sandman? Why didnt you stick with your original plan!? Huh?! Bubble Butt!!
Because you sexy monkey, i was very new and kind of a pussy when i started this project, all of those years ago... I tried to please everyone, which obviously is never a good idea lol
🧭 Sandbox Mode (unchanged!)
This is still the original, full-sized format.
You pick which quests to do and in what order.
Your choices, party members, and previous actions dynamically affect other quests and outcomes.
This leads to tons MORE of branching paths and unique interactions.
It’s highly modular and designed for replayability LIKE THE VN BUT EVEN MORE!!!
All original planned endings are still here.
📖 Visual Novel Mode (structured differently)
The VN version is more linear by nature. (Will still have a metric fuck ton of choices!!)
Quests follow a set order. (very important)))!!
Because of this structure, it's not possible to recreate the same dynamic branching of the sandbox.
So some endings or combinations had to be reworked or streamlined to fit a story-driven flow.
BUT: There are still 20–25 unique endings, and lots of scene variations based on player choices.
I cant simply make the sandbox fit into a VN's tight asshole. Its not going to fit, its impossible. Believe me when i say, I tried lol
Why the Change?
The goal was to make sure both versions feel strong in their own way. The sandbox thrives on open choice and variable outcomes. The VN needs a clean narrative arc. Rather than cram the sandbox logic into a format that doesn’t support it, I adapted the content to fit the medium.
Nothing is being lost—just restructured.
Thanks to everyone who’s been following this journey and trusting the creative process. I know changes like this can be jarring, but the end result will be tighter, more enjoyable, and more polished in both formats.
If you have questions or concerns, I’m always listening xx
Other news
I finally started making Wanghai city, its like a scifi city for those who dont know. Learning blender is difficult but i am getting better x
Comments

Sandman Games and Art
2025-06-26 23:50:14 +0000 UTCi played it in the VN format, did i lose out on any content/events this way? or they have the same amount of content/animations as of rn? i know choices impact this but i always save before an important choice and always explore both options just to get the most amount of content out of the game
Shadow Realm
2025-06-16 11:41:51 +0000 UTCThanks for the clarification, it helps. Also, good luck with Blender. I've heard it's a beast to learn, but once you do it is so much more powerful than DAZ, especially with animations and body morph/soft tissue use, etc.
