In 2014 an ice storm plus snow unexpectedly hit Atlanta mid-day. In a panic to get home, everyone left at the same time. Worse case scenario bc it’s impossible to drive on ice. 100’s and 100’s of people ended up stranded on the interstates in frozen traffic jams for over 24 hours. Can you imagine? It was disastrous. It’s referred as Snowmageddon. There’s another storm about to hit the deep south this week and unfortunately places in LA, MS, AL, south Ga and Fla that never get ice storms are about to get a terrible one. Ice storms are the worse bc of the damage and power outages from falling trees. Several times in my life here in ATL, we’ve been stuck in our house for days and days bc of ice with no power. The ominous sound of trees hitting the house is awful. When we went to Vail, Co on a ski trip, the snow measuring sticks on the shoulders of the Eisenhower Highway went up to 18ft.( 5.49 meters). That’s a lot of snow.
