Gourmet Hunter - Chapter 507

Chapter 507: Jellyfish Body

Falling into the unknown abyss along with the seawater, accompanied by the roaring sound of water, the strong shock felt when coming to a halt made Luo understand that they had reached the bottom.

Perhaps due to death, the light from the anglerfish extinguished, and darkness returned to the surroundings.

Before Luo could adjust his position, the seawater that slammed into the ground instantly pushed him far away. In the pitch-black darkness, only the sound of water flushing the ground and the various noises like objects falling from a high place remained.

Although he couldn't see anything, he could feel his body wrapped in cold seawater.

Suddenly, the seawater surrounding their bodies vanished without warning. Luo and his companions fell onto a hard surface, with an unstable vibration emanating from beneath them.

The rapidly changing environment was disorienting and filled with an unusual eeriness.

Luo stood up and took out his multifunctional phone, which couldn't receive signals but had other features. He turned on the flashlight function, and the flash next to the camera emitted a white light.

With the flashlight's beam, he could see that the damp ground resembled a rocky layer. Beyond the reach of the light, it was still dark, but the ground suggested they were in an underground cave.

"Be careful, those sea monsters came down with us. They might be able to move on land," Luo whispered a reminder.

Given the size of those sea monsters and the height they fell from, they were likely to have been crushed.

However, they fell along with a lot of seawater, which, although mysteriously disappeared, served as a cushion before vanishing, so the sea monsters might not be dead.

Bisky nodded slightly upon hearing this and squatted down to tap the ground, producing a dull sound.

The rock was very hard.

Luo released the black cat and took out two high-powered flashlights from his space, giving one to Bisky and keeping one for himself, then he put away his phone.

The beam from the high-powered flashlight reached far. When Luo shone it in one direction, it revealed the edge of a sea monster's body, startling him.

Bisky also shone her flashlight around. Besides darkness, the light fell on parts of the sea monsters' bodies, which lay still, possibly dead from the fall.

To be safe, Luo and Bisky didn't rush to check.

"Wake up Tonpa," Luo said to the black cat.

"Slap!"

Without hesitation, the black cat slapped Tonpa awake. He woke up and was about to shout, but the black cat swiftly slapped him again, effectively silencing him.

Without much explanation, Tonpa understood that the environment was not friendly.

"Use your nen to probe the surroundings and see if you can find an exit or something similar," Luo instructed.

Tonpa took a deep breath, barely controlling his anxiety, and used 【Future Vision】. His nen turned into invisible sound waves that spread into the endless darkness.

The probe's sound waves could cover a range of ten thousand meters. Originating from the same principle as bats' echolocation but surpassing it, this was a high-level integration of nen and bionics.

The invisible waves continuously looped through the area, with the detected information feeding back into Tonpa's mind, forming clear images.

Luo and Bisky waited patiently, unaware of Tonpa's probing process but noticing his breathing becoming heavier, almost erratic.

That was a sign of fear.

"Are there living creatures in the dark?"

Luo lowered his eyelids, not disturbing Tonpa's probing process, while guessing in his mind.

He had become accustomed to Tonpa's various fears, and it wasn't entirely Tonpa's fault. In the Dark Sea, encountering things that defied logic was common, and any weak-hearted person would react similarly.

After about a minute, Tonpa withdrew his nen, trembling slightly.

The black cat glanced at Tonpa with disdain. After a few weeks in the Dark Sea, he was still so unprogressive.

"How is it?" Luo asked.

"It's very spacious. I didn't find any exits, but there are huge sea monsters all around us. They are motionless, and I can't be sure if they are still alive."

Tonpa's voice trembled. He swallowed and continued, "Moreover, at two kilometers to our three o'clock and one kilometer to our six o'clock, there are many unidentified creatures heading towards us."

"Unidentified creatures? What's their size and appearance? How many are there?" Luo asked several questions in a row.

"They're about the size of a bear, moving on all fours. Because they're moving quickly, I couldn't make out their specific appearance. There are at least five hundred of them. Shouldn't we leave here quickly?" Tonpa suggested fearfully.

Being in the pitch-black space with limited visibility was very inconvenient.

The unidentified creatures Tonpa mentioned likely had night vision, putting them at a disadvantage.

Although they could use 【En】 to sense everything in the dark, maintaining 【En】 would weaken their defense, especially with so many unidentified creatures around, increasing the risk.

Luo and Bisky quickly pondered and, after a brief exchange of glances, reached a conclusion.

Avoid fighting!

Even though they wanted to understand where they were, it was best not to engage with the unknown creatures.

"Let's go."

Luo made a prompt decision.

They moved in the opposite direction, with Luo instructing Tonpa to continue using sound waves to find an exit.

After about three minutes of running, Tonpa suppressed his fear and said, "Those unidentified creatures have stopped and are eating the sea monsters. Their numbers are increasing."

Luo and Bisky were silent. What kind of place was this? An underground cave at the bottom of the sea?

The spaciousness was eerie, without any stalactites or wind.

After ten minutes of high-speed travel, they had covered six or seven kilometers.

"Still the same?" Luo asked.

"Yes, still an empty terrain," Tonpa replied.

Luo frowned. Even if it were an underground cave, its structure was too strange.

At that moment, a red light suddenly appeared ahead.

A human-sized figure abruptly appeared before them, floating in mid-air, emitting a liquid-like red light.

Through the light, the figure resembled a slightly transparent jellyfish, with the light coming from the red fluid flowing inside.

Luo and Bisky halted abruptly, warily observing the unknown entity.

"I... I didn't detect it," Tonpa said, stopping as well and hurriedly explaining.

The sound waves hadn't detected the entity, as if it had suddenly popped up.

"Blurb Blurb."

The jellyfish-like body tilted its head, looking at them and making a curious sound.
