Gourmet Hunter - Chapter 482

Chapter 482: Teasing

Once the conversation started, Luo's restraint gradually faded. Only when the food was served did the topic come to an end.

Mito sat opposite Luo, her face expressionless.

Luo couldn't tell what Mito was thinking, but it was clear he would be staying overnight.

At Gon’s home, there was no rule against talking while eating. Gon asked Luo all sorts of curious questions, and Luo answered them one by one.

Bertha smiled as she watched Gon and Luo. It had been a while since the family table had been so lively.

Indeed, once a new face enters a monotonous life, the atmosphere changes dramatically.

Unintentionally, Bertha's gaze mostly stayed on Luo, and a thought suddenly crossed her mind.

What if she could matchmake Luo and Mito...

With this thought, Bertha's mind started to race.

Mito was now at the age for marriage, but she wasn't very interested, and with Gon to care for, she might not even think about love or marriage for the next five or ten years.

Luo was handsome, a good cook, and treated Gon well, and Gon also liked him. He was the perfect match; it would be a pity to miss out on him.

The more Bertha thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. But then she remembered that Luo would be leaving in a couple of days and sighed inwardly.

She wondered if there was a way to make Luo stay longer, even thinking about more drastic measures.

At the dinner table, if Luo and Mito knew Bertha's "crazy" thoughts, they wouldn't know what to think.

In a way, Bertha was really worried about Mito's future.

If Luo hadn't come to Whale Island, in a few years, Bertha would probably give up on the matter and let Mito do as she pleased.

Gon kept talking to Luo, while Mito quietly ate her meal. Seeing Gon so happy, her previous bad impression of Luo gradually faded.

After dinner, Bertha and Mito cleaned up while Gon went to take a bath. Luo went to the second-floor rooftop terrace, sitting on a lounge chair, quietly watching the night field.

Ten minutes passed, and footsteps came from behind.

Without turning around, he knew the footsteps belonged to Mito.

"What is your relationship with Ging?"

Mito walked to the edge of the terrace, then turned to look at Luo.

The crescent moon hung in the sky behind Mito, like a hairpin stuck in her hair.

"We're good friends." Luo didn't get up, resting his hands on the chair's armrests, sitting properly.

"Where is Ging now?" Mito continued to ask.

"He came to Whale Island yesterday, but he left this morning. As for where he is now, I don't know." Luo had a faint smile on his face.

Before leaving, Ging didn't tell Luo to hide anything, so Luo answered truthfully.

Hearing this, Mito clenched her fists, her face showing a slight anger, but soon, her fists slowly relaxed.

She was initially angry that Ging hadn't come home, but in a way, it was good he didn't come to see Gon.

After all, she had lied to Gon, telling him that Ging had died in an accident shortly after he was born.

"You must not tell Gon that Ging is still alive, understand?" Mito said firmly, meeting Luo's gaze.

Since Gon hadn't come asking about Ging, she concluded that Gon didn't know yet, but there was no guarantee Luo wouldn't tell him in the future.

"Why?" Luo maintained his smile, pretending not to understand.

He knew that because of Mito's lie, Gon believed his parents had died in an accident shortly after his birth.

However, in a few years, Gon would meet Ging's apprentice, Kite, in the forest, and learn about Ging from Kite, realizing Ging was still alive. This would spark his desire to become a Hunter and find Ging.

As for why Kite would be there, it was all under Ging's control.

Because Ging's final test for Kite was to find him, so to find him, Kite would definitely come to Whale Island.

Luo knew all these future events, and since Ging told him not to mess around, he wouldn't. He just wanted to tease Mito.

Mito couldn't tell what Luo was thinking. She looked at him, her face showing a slight hesitation. After a few seconds, she said in a low voice, "I lied to Gon, letting him believe that Ging is dead."

"Do you think this is a well-intentioned lie?" Luo asked.

"Yes!"

Mito replied without hesitation.

"If you say so. But if you want me to keep this secret, you should show some sincerity, right?" Luo stood up from the chair, rubbing his thumb and forefinger together.

Mito stared at Luo, "What do you want?"

"Let me think."

Luo walked toward Mito.

Mito watched Luo's movements, frowning slightly.

"What can you offer me?"

Luo stood in front of Mito, smiling.

"Letting you stay overnight isn't enough?" Mito looked up at Luo, her tone firm.

"Definitely not enough." Luo shook his head.

"Then what do you want?" Mito quietly clenched her fist, ready to punch Luo in the face if necessary.

"Otherwise..."

Luo suddenly took a step forward, forcing Mito to step back, pressing against the terrace railing.

Seeing Mito's slight nervousness, Luo secretly smiled, reaching out his right hand past Mito's side, placing it on the terrace railing, his face slowly moving closer to her, just about to make a request...

Mito's eyes narrowed, and she kicked toward his groin.

"So ruthless?"

Luo lifted his eyelids, his legs timely catching Mito's kick, preventing a heavy blow.

"Go to hell!"

With her foot caught, Mito didn't try to pull it back but swung a punch toward Luo's face.

Luo caught her fist with his left hand, shaking his head, sighing, "Do you have to react so strongly? I just wanted you to wash my clothes."

Hearing Luo's words, Mito was stunned.

At that moment, footsteps came from the door.

Both Luo and Mito looked toward the door, seeing Bertha carrying two glasses of orange juice onto the terrace.

Bertha saw the ambiguous posture of the two, a knowing look flashed in her eyes, and she smiled, "I'll leave the orange juice here. You two continue, pretend I wasn't here."

With that, she quickly placed the tray down and ran off, leaving behind a stiff-faced Mito and a troubled Luo.

"Let go."

Mito glared at Luo coldly.

Luo immediately let go of her hands and feet, then stepped back a few steps.

Mito looked at Luo coldly, saying, "I'll wash your clothes. You mustn't tell Gon that Ging is still alive. That's it."

With that, she walked past Luo, striding toward the door.

"Seems like she's mad."

Luo watched Mito's departing back, scratching his cheek.

Did he go too far...

However, that kick toward his groin was too decisive, but it matched her character, somewhat similar to Machi's.

Luo shook his head slightly, tugging at his rather dirty clothes, a smile appearing on his lips.
