Gourmet Hunter - Chapter 462

Chapter 462: Meeting

To Machi, Luo and the Ohara Museum were mere acquaintances, with barely any interaction. She didn’t understand why Luo was standing there at the museum.

Luo didn’t explain but instead mentioned the number of deaths tonight.

"What does it represent?" Machi asked, puzzled.

"The number of people who died by your hands tonight," Luo said.

In the outskirts, Machi stood on a slope, listening to Luo talk about the deaths. Her heart remained unmoved.

Different perspectives lead to different values.

"Is this why you intervened?" Machi looked at the wind-swept grass in the distance, slightly furrowing her brow.

Hearing Machi’s emotionless tone, Luo fell silent. He recalled the moment when Uvogin uprooted a tree and brought down a helicopter.

After a moment, Luo suppressed his complex emotions and asked, "What do you think?"

"Aren't those people strangers to you?"

Machi couldn’t accept this reason. She felt Luo had a closer relationship with the Ohara Museum and should be on their side.

Machi’s values and thinking were shaped by Meteor Street’s environment, making it hard for her to accept and understand Luo's actions.

"So, do you think my intervention was right or wrong?" Luo's tone was calm.

Machi couldn’t respond.

She didn’t want to say Luo was wrong or right.

Hearing the silence on the other end, Luo sighed softly. The slight discomfort in his heart began to ferment.

He said solemnly, "I just don’t like you killing innocents. There are many ways to get what you want, and you chose the worst one. That’s why I stopped you."

The real reason Luo intervened wasn’t this. His decision was influenced by various factors.

However, Luo didn’t explain the true reason to Machi and instead elaborated on what she said, as he was uncomfortable with her disregard for those lives.

"I understand," Machi replied softly.

From her voice, Luo sensed Machi's mood had lowered, but he didn’t want to compromise on this topic.

"What if I asked you and Uvogin to leave the troupe now? What would you do?"

"I..."

Machi thought of the intel gathered by the troupe tonight, the hostility some members displayed or harbored.

She had no reason to leave the troupe, didn’t want more conflicts between Luo and the troupe, and hoped to reconcile them through efforts with Uvogin and Nobunaga.

So...

"I won’t leave."

Machi’s answer was expected by Luo, not surprising at all. After a moment of silence, he said, "It’s late. You should rest."

Machi wanted to say more but ended with a "Hmm," and the call ended.

Luo put away his phone and quietly stared at the ceiling.

The book "God’s Hand" had 6258 on the cover, representing the number of lives saved, and 2463 on the back, representing the number killed.

In fact, over a thousand people had died by Luo's hands. Even though Luo didn’t consider himself a righteous person, he felt it was right to kill those people, justified in his mind.

Even his dealings with the Black Cat involved killing vicious criminals, while the Phantom Troupe killed for their gain and desires.

Even if Machi called, Luo didn’t think he was wrong. His second condition today was for the Kurta Clan's and the troupe’s good.

As long as they didn’t provoke him...

Luo thought silently.

If the troupe sought revenge, he wouldn’t be lenient.

The next day, there were no corpses in the garden. Even traces of blood were hard to find without careful search, and the helicopter wreckage was gone.

Luo wandered the garden, seeing many uniformed workers filling the large pits, most caused by Uvogin's punches.

"Though I want to leave everything to Salin, I must take the score with me."

Luo walked, thinking about how to get the Dark Sonata score from Clover.

Last night, Luo had helped Clover drive away the Phantom Troupe and took three treasures as a reward. He could buy the score if Clover was willing to sell.

The three treasures needed proper evaluation outside the Ohara Museum and could only be sold on the black market, not at the Luo Ling Museum.

One of them was one of the Seven Great Beauties, which should fetch a high price. Coupled with the 500 million from selling Clover’s Bone Pen and Absolute Letter, funds wouldn’t be a problem short-term.

"Mr. Luo, the master invites you."

An old man in a butler’s uniform approached.

"Lead the way," Luo nodded.

"Please follow me."

The old man bowed respectfully and led the way to the palace.

In the room, Clover and Salin sat at a table.

Luo entered, smelling the fresh tea aroma in the air.

"Mr. Luo, please sit."

Seeing Luo, Clover stood up, his hospitality vastly different from yesterday.

Luo pulled a chair and sat, looking at Salin, who seemed surprised by Clover’s invitation.

Luo wondered if they were discussing cooperation matters and needed his input, thus inviting him.

"Unexpected to see the Luo Ling Museum’s founder so young." Clover ordered tea, then looked at Luo, marveling.

Knowing Luo used a human skin mask last night wasn’t surprising, but his youth and strength were.

He knew many hunters and could hire them as guards, but they were ineffective last night, as were the guests' bodyguards.

Without Luo, the losses would’ve been severe. Still, three treasures were lost...

"I’m just a nominal owner," Luo replied.

"You’re too modest. Last night’s attackers were the infamous Phantom Troupe, yet you drove them away single-handedly," Clover laughed, showing no signs of last night’s heavy losses.

A servant placed a steaming cup of tea before Luo.

Clover pointed to the cup, "This is Earl’s Red Tea, with an annual yield of less than ten pounds. It took great effort to get one pound. Please taste it."

Tea with an annual yield of less than ten pounds?

Surprised, Luo took a sip, his expression changing subtly, placing the cup down.

"The tea is good but ruined by something extra," Luo said flatly, looking at Clover.

Hearing this, Clover's face changed immediately.
