2024-09-03 18:27:41 +0000 UTCI hadn’t seen this before. Pretty well done. They did a good job of handling the delicate matters without vilifying folks too much. One thing they didn’t mention I am surprised about is that college football came before pro football and is still bigger than it. Yes, millions may watch the Super Bowl but millions more go out there every Saturday and watch college football, with thousands and thousands not going to the big schools but rather the smaller ones. And it isn’t about the skill level. It never was. Sure, each school wants to be the best, but if the NFL introduced a minor league system and all the best players that would have gone to college went there instead, college football attendance wouldn’t be affected. If anything it would improve with fans and students feeling like the players loved them more than money.

2024-09-02 20:08:56 +0000 UTCPresident Ronald Reagan played George Gipp (the Gipper) in that film. He was called that throughout his political career. Gipp played for Rockne at Notre Dame from 1918-1920. He was an All-American, and died of an illness after the 1920 season.
