Nole was already thinking of wooing the male lead without even knowing what the mission entailed. 098 had nothing to say, then flipped through the mission requirements, and was suddenly startled, "Did you sneak a peek at the mission requirements?"
"Where would I have seen them?" Ling Chunann asked. "Isn't it quite easy to guess?"
That made sense; the original character was obsessed with the male lead, so how could the mission not involve him?
"The mission requirements are: become the faction's goddess, make the male lead fall in love with you, and find true love. Additional mandatory mission: yet to be unlocked."
"Unlocked?"
"Yes, host. The mission world has been upgraded, adding some uncertainties. New uncertain missions may be added at any time, but for now, it should not be difficult." The last part was said with some uncertainty by 098.
"Got it." Ling Chunann replied with enthusiasm, finding this more interesting than the known missions.
After sorting out the plot and memories, Ling Chunann stood up, then stumbled, steadying himself on the computer desk.
"Host, are you alright?" 098 was extremely worried.
Ling Chunann shook his slightly dizzy head, "What's wrong with this body?"
"Checking now, please wait." A minute later, 098 hesitated to speak.
"Say it, don't be afraid of upsetting me." At least this body's eyes were fine, Ling Chunann thought. He had just used his healing ability to check, and found no issues with this body. However, judging by 098's demeanor, there must be a significant problem that had not been detected due to the changed situation.
Thinking this, Ling Chunann sat back down and signaled 098 to take his time.
"Host, after scanning, this body has a severe heart condition. It had never been diagnosed before, and there is no family history of genetic diseases, so it was never given attention. The original text focused more on his wrongdoings than on his health condition," 098 paused before adding, "Did you not find any issues with the body earlier?"
Ling Chunann nodded slightly.
"The world upgrade has caused an energy incompatibility, preventing your inherent abilities from completely changing the original body's constitution," 098 said with a lack of confidence. "I'm sorry, host. I didn't expect you to upgrade to a medium world so quickly and forgot to tell you the precautions."
"Does that mean the suppression will be more severe when I upgrade to a higher world?"
098 admired the host's knack for grasping the key points, "Yes, but as you complete more missions, your energy will increase, and the binding force of suppression will decrease. You currently have much more energy than other taskers in medium worlds and should be able to use some abilities."
"Understood." Ling Chunann nodded. Although he could use abilities, he felt his energy was significantly weaker compared to previous worlds. "What's the difference between a medium world and a primary world?"
"To the host, compared to a primary world, a medium world has a more complete world structure and more diverse missions," 098 replied.
"Is it possible to encounter other taskers?" Ling Chunann was intrigued.
"Unlikely, as there can only be one tasker in a world, but higher worlds might involve tasker confrontations."
After resting for a while, Ling Chunann recovered and looked around the messy room full of trash, "098."
"Host, what's the matter?" 098 immediately responded.
"Help me out, will you?" Ling Chunann said.
098 was always enthusiastic about helping the host, "Of course, I'll help if I can."
"Come out and clean the room. I'm going to take a shower."
"..."
"Who said they'd definitely help?"
"Yes, host, right away!"
"Good, and clean the other rooms and downstairs too," Ling Chunann said with a smile.
After laying out his demands, Ling Chunann left 098 standing there and headed to the bathroom. The bathroom was clean, except for some dust in the bathtub, indicating it hadn't been used for a long time. Given the original character's obsession with gaming, it's no surprise he rarely took the time for baths, managing a quick shower in five minutes was already impressive.
The bathroom had a full-length mirror wall, and Ling Chunann closely examined his body. With thick eyebrows, a high nose bridge, and naturally pink lips that curled up slightly even when not smiling, he looked exceptionally approachable. His smile might not have been stunning, but the small dimple on his left cheek made him extremely adorable—a typical handsome young man, albeit looking a bit young.
If Ling Chunann remembered correctly, the character should now be twenty years old. Perhaps due to the hidden heart condition, his physique was lean and small, with a pallor from lack of sunlight, and he was probably not taller than 175 cm.
He had once boasted about a body that never seemed to grow, but it had ended up taller than this. Ling Chunann was slightly disappointed with the height, but after undressing, he was even more critical of the physique.
The clothes had made him look thin, but undressed, he was even skinnier than imagined, almost skin and bones. Ling Chunann was grateful that at least his face still looked decent.
After a leisurely bath, Ling Chunann wrapped in a fresh towel, emerged to find 098 had efficiently cleaned the room. The clothes and socks were all thrown away, as Ling Chunann preferred not to wear clothes others had worn when possible, a preference well understood by 098.
Seeing the cleaned house, Ling Chunann generously praised 098, who was nearly flying with happiness.
Standing in front of the empty fridge for a few seconds, Ling Chunann went back to his room, changed into a new set of clothes, and left the house.
"Host, are you planning to cook?" 098 curiously asked. It wasn't concerned about Ling Chunann's ability to eat other foods, as he had adapted to most normal foods by now, but his habit of eating meat was purely indulged by men. But...098 hardly believed Ling Chunann, who hadn't cooked in years, always had everything handed to him, and later forgot even the direction of the kitchen, could still cook. It was skeptical.
"What? 098, do you have so little faith in me?" Ling Chunann sounded slightly hurt.
"Of course not, host. How could I not believe you?" 098 quickly denied.
Ling Chunann then nodded in satisfaction.
The original character's house was a detached villa in a small complex of about ten houses, in a very nice environment. Ling Chunann leisurely headed to a nearby supermarket to buy some vegetables and meat.
At checkout, 098 suddenly remembered something it had forgotten to remind the host, "Host, you forgot to bring money."
Ling Chunann patted his pockets, "And I didn't bring my keys either."
"..." The situation was more serious than 098 had imagined.
"The total is 128 yuan. Will you pay in cash or by card?" the cashier said while printing the receipt.
"Sorry, I forgot to bring my wallet when I left. Can you hold these for me for a moment? I'll bring the money back soon," Ling Chunann said with a smile to the cashier.
"Sure, I'll hold them for you," the cashier, charmed by the good-looking young man, agreed. She would have offered credit if it weren't against the rules.
"I'll pay for him," a voice came from behind Ling Chunann.
A tall man in a suit, exuding an impressive aura, placed a bottle of water and a card on the counter, "Together."
"Okay," the cashier began scanning the items.
At this moment, 098 had only one thought: how does the host always meet this man so quickly? How does he do it?
Ling Chunann, however, wasn't surprised. He looked up and smiled at the man, "Thank you." Ling Chunann was quite shorter this time, the man towering nearly twenty centimeters taller, making the contrast stark, especially with Ling Chunann's youthful, baby-faced appearance.
"No problem." The man took his card back, then reached out to carry Ling Chunann's bags, "Which building are you in? I'll walk you home."
"Number eighteen." Ling Chunann wasn't concerned about privacy, "My name is Ling Chunann, and you?"
"Shu Yiheng, I live in number nineteen," the man added, "Alone."
Ling Chunann looked at him for a moment and suddenly wanted to laugh, then coughed to clear his throat, remembering they were still "unfamiliar," "I haven't seen you around before."
"I just moved in." Shu Yiheng said, "What about you? Living with your family?"
"No, I live alone too." Ling Chunann emphasized the word "alone," and as expected, the man's ears turned red.
Ling Chunann had to hold back a laugh; the man was even more adorable than before! "Youth does have its advantages; even the skin is thinner." Although Shu Yiheng seemed much older and mature in demeanor compared to Ling Chunann, with Ling Chunann's keen eye, it was easy to discern his real age—not over twenty-five.
098 couldn't help but retort, "That's because the person is you." It had never seen the man act bashfully around anyone else.
When they reached the front door of number eighteen, Ling Chunann pretended to search his pockets, then awkwardly smiled at the man, "Oh no, I forgot to bring my keys. Mr. Shu, do you know the number for a locksmith?"
"I do." Shu Yiheng looked at the closed door, "
Locksmiths take time, I'll call one for you in a bit. You haven't had lunch yet, come to my place first."
The suggestion perfectly aligned with Ling Chunann's intentions. However, to appear modest, he hesitated for a bit before naturally entering the man's home.
Shu Yiheng's house was decorated in a style Ling Chunann liked. Sometimes, Ling Chunann even wondered if the man remembered him; otherwise, why would he know all his preferences and habits so well? Yet, each time, the man's actions confirmed he indeed didn't remember him, leaving the question unresolved.
"Take a seat for a while, have some fruit," Shu Yiheng told Ling Chunann, "Cooking will take about half an hour. If you're bored, you can go to the second room upstairs. There's a computer."
"Okay." Ling Chunann obediently nodded.
The man couldn't resist patting his head, smiling as he withdrew his hand, "Make yourself at home."
Truth be told, Ling Chunann had never felt restrained around men in any world. So after Shu Yiheng left, he obediently headed to the second room on the second floor.
The door was unlocked. Inside was a study with a stack of documents on the left side of the desk—likely already dealt with according to the man's habit—next to a closed laptop and a desktop computer.
Although unsure of their importance, it was clear the man had no defenses against Ling Chunann.
However, what caught Ling Chunann's interest was the rare presence of a desktop computer in the study.
Curious, Ling Chunann pressed the power button.
Seconds later, the computer booted to the desktop, showing a few system icons. Ling Chunann's sharp eyes caught a familiar game icon on the desktop, "He plays this game too?"
The author's note: I'm currently playing in the dual-line first district.
