The Counterattack Plan of A Villain With Ten Thousand Fans - Chapter 164

Chapter 164

After Tan Zhilang assisted Ling Chunann inside, Lan Zhengxing stared at him for a few seconds before standing up to warmly welcome them, "Come, take a seat."

After getting Ling Chunann settled, Tan Zhilang shot a glance at his overly eager old classmate before speaking up, "Doctor Lan, please examine him. Can his eyesight be restored?"

Couldn't he let the person introduce himself first? Lan Zhengxing shot back a glance at Tan Zhilang, who twitched the corner of his mouth but said nothing further.

"Hello, I'm Lan Zhengxing, Tan Zhilang's classmate of ten years, and currently an ophthalmology doctor from Country Y, but I plan to stay in our home country for a while."

Lan Zhengxing extended his hand to Ling Chunann, then, realizing he couldn't see, was about to retract it but found his hand being shaken, "Hello, Lu Jiayan."

Ling Chunann quickly withdrew his hand, or rather, Tan Zhilang quickly inserted himself between the two, not so forcefully moving Ling Chunann to sit on the nearby sofa.

"Host, you didn't see his expression when you shook his hand. Ha-ha, if it weren't for his preference for the female lead in the story, I'd have thought he fell for you at first sight," 098 chuckled.

"How do you know he couldn't fall for me at first sight?" Ling Chunann countered.

"..." Could it really be?

"Doctor Lan," Ling Chunann took the initiative to speak, "My eyes can no longer be treated. You can go ahead with your diagnosis. I've gotten used to living this way over time, and being blind hasn't significantly impacted me. I came with the butler because I didn't want to dismiss his kindness."

...And because you're the second male lead, 098 silently completed Ling Chunann's unsaid words.

Surprised by Ling Chunann's outright rejection of treatment, Lan Zhengxing frowned and advised, "I still think an examination is necessary. It's not that I don't trust Doctor Tang's judgment, but what if there are different results?"

Doctor Tang was Ling Chunann's former primary physician, a renowned expert in the country. Lan Zhengxing found Ling Chunann's condition challenging after hearing about it from Tan Zhilang and now found it even more so.

The biggest trouble is a patient who won't cooperate.

Whether as Ling Chunann or the original Lu Jiayan, neither would willingly disclose their condition. Ling Chunann found it troublesome, and Lu Jiayan, at this point, would likely have complex feelings towards the female lead. Being stubborn, once he decided on something, he wouldn't regret it, preferring the female lead not know what he had done. In the original story, he succeeded in this until his death, with the female lead unaware that her eyes were his.

Standing up, Ling Chunann smiled at Lan Zhengxing, "No need for an examination, thank you, Doctor Lan. If someone from the Lu family asks, please tell them recovery is impossible. As for the reason," his expression momentarily bitter but quickly replaced by a smile, "better not to ask. Sorry, I have to go, there's something at home."

After speaking, Ling Chunann headed towards the door, bumping into a table corner on the way.

Tan Zhilang hurried over to support him, "I'll take you home."

After Tan Zhilang and Ling Chunann left, Lan Zhengxing paced back and forth in his office before stepping out to instruct the assistant outside, "Postpone all my appointments by two hours."

Then he headed upstairs and knocked on the hospital director's office, "Is Doctor Tang here?"

On the way back, 098 inquired, "Host, why not reveal the truth to them?" Though Tan Zhilang's affection for the female lead wasn't high, there was still a chance he could fall for her again, and Lan Zhengxing's chances were even greater.

"Who said I didn't tell them?" Ling Chunann massaged the spot where he had bumped, deciding not to use his abilities to heal it, planning to have it massaged later at home.

"Ah!" 098 had a sudden realization, "Host, are you saying the male leads will investigate on their own?"

"098, you've become a tad smarter," Ling Chunann complimented.

"But what if they don't investigate?" 098 added.

"I take back what I just said."

"..."

Twenty minutes later, which turned into an hour due to a detour, Tan Zhilang's car finally stopped at the mansion's entrance. He smiled apologetically at Ling Chunann, "It's been so long since I've been back in the country; I didn't know how the routes were planned anymore. Next time, it seems better to have a driver."

"Host, he's lying. He deliberately took a long detour around the city," 098 informed.

Ling Chunann responded, "That means I'm charming. He wanted to spend more time with me."

Since when did the host become so narcissistic?

"Why don't you stay at home? I went to visit the Lu family a few days ago and didn't see you there," Tan Zhilang inquired.

"Ah, my home is too far from the company. It's a bit closer from here, and with my uncle taking care of me, the family feels reassured," Ling Chunann replied.

"Uncle?" Tan Zhilang had never heard of another brother in the Lu family's household. He glanced at the mansion that dominated the top of the hill, doubting the Lu family would have such extravagance to reserve such a vast piece of land near the city center for private residence.

"Yes, he only came back recently. With me being injured and no one at home to take care of me, he took me in," Ling Chunann explained lightly.

Tan Zhilang did not question further, realizing that was the case but thought it was quite irresponsible of the Lu family.

"You're back, young master," Lu Yuan greeted as he came up to help Ling Chunann out of the car, then turned to Tan Zhilang, "This must be the young master's friend. Thank you for bringing him home. Please come in for some tea."

Hesitating for a moment, Tan Zhilang declined, "No, thank you. I have other matters to attend to, maybe next time." Waving his hand, he added, "Goodbye, Ayan. Let's have a meal together in a few days; we haven't had a proper catch-up."

"Alright."

Just after driving a short distance, Tan Zhilang's phone rang, showing a call from Doctor Lan. He answered, "How did it go? Did Doctor Tang say anything?"

"Doctor Tang didn't say anything, but I managed to pull up Ayan's medical record," a pause filled with the sound of flipping documents came from the other end, "I've sent the information to your email, have a look yourself," and then the call ended.

Tan Zhilang decided to pull over and checked his email on his phone. The more he read, the deeper his frown became, and upon seeing the name of the donor, his knuckles turned pale from gripping the phone too tightly.

"Energy points +10000."

Just as Ling Chunann entered the living room, he heard this notification.

"Host, the female lead and Mrs. Lu went to work together today. Your secretary didn't dare to manage the CEO's wife and is now at a loss. Your phone was off," 098 informed.

"Understood."

After finding his phone, which had been turned off and placed beside his bed last night, and turning it on, Secretary Yang's call came through immediately.

"President Lu, Mrs. Lu is waiting in your office. I couldn't persuade her to leave," Secretary Yang's voice was nearly in tears, hinting at the significant backing Bai Yuanyu had, with the CEO's wife herself coming over.

"Understood," Ling Chunann responded, "You don’t need to attend to them, just carry on with your work. I’ll get in touch with them in a bit."

"Okay."

"And, compile Bai Yuanyu's work reports and her job duties, as well as mine, and bring them to my office in ten minutes."

"Alright, no problem, President Lu."

After ending the call, Ling Chunann dialed another number, placing the phone aside for five minutes before listening. Mrs. Lu's voice came through, "Xiaoyan, can we just let this go? After all, Yuanyu is your sister. She lacks work experience and is bound to make mistakes."

"Mother, as you know, I'm blind now and need an assistant who can be of help in a short span. With my sister’s current pace, it won’t be possible for her to catch up in less than six months. I wanted to give her a chance, but regarding work, I suggest she change her position."

"But..."

"As you said, sister lacks experience, which needs to be gradually acquired. It's difficult for her to keep up with my work pace immediately."

Mrs. Lu was taken aback by Ling Chunann using her own words against her and was left speechless.

"I'll be back at work tomorrow. If there are still questions by then, sister can come to my office," Ling Chunann continued, "Or you both can come to my uncle's house today. I just returned from the hospital and will be resting at home today."

"Let's meet tomorrow then," Mrs. Lu suggested over the phone.

"Alright, I had the secretary send some documents over for you to see."

After hanging up, Ling Chunann chuckled, "Truly not my biological mother."

The next day Mrs. Lu didn't show up at the company, nor did Bai Yuanyu come to the office to seek explanations. Anyone with a bit of insight, after reviewing the work content and Bai Yuanyu

's reports, would know how far she was from meeting the job requirements. Her coming would just be seeking trouble for herself.

After a few peaceful days, a knock on Ling Chunann's office door came close to noon.

"Come in."

"President Lu, there's a call from the front desk. Someone sent something for you. I've brought it up."

"What is it?"

"A bouquet of violets," Secretary Yang said, "There was no name attached. Do you want me to put them in a vase for you?"

"No, just leave them there."

"Okay."

Secretary Yang placed the bouquet on an empty spot on the desk and left, closing the door behind her.

Ling Chunann's preferred flower was the rose, simple to care for and blooming several times a year, the only flowering plant he had successfully kept alive. Violets were Lu Jiayan's favorite, simply because the female lead liked them.

Very few people knew this.

"Host, could the female lead be trying to win you back?" 098 speculated.
