The Counterattack Plan of A Villain With Ten Thousand Fans - Chapter 146

Chapter 146

Before class was over for the day, Ling Chunann's communicator suddenly rang. The caller was Marei.

"Host, your mech might finally be ready," 098 couldn't hide its excitement either. Due to the scarcity of materials, the production process of this mech took nearly two years, so lengthy that Marei felt embarrassed to contact Ling Chunann, fearing he'd accuse him of taking money without delivering.

Ling Chunann said nothing, signaled Nor, who was instructing students in a practice fight, and stepped out of the classroom to answer, "What's up?"

"A'Chen, A'Chen!" Marei's voice buzzed with excitement from the other end, "It's a success! We finally did it! A'Chen, when do you plan to inspect it? You must take me with you!"

Listening to Marei's rambling joy, Ling Chunann chuckled before finally interjecting, "I'm off tomorrow, so let's go check it out then."

"Check out what?"

Right after ending the call, Ling Chunann suddenly found himself hugged from behind. He turned to glance at the man, "Come with me tomorrow, and you'll see."

After hanging up, Marei couldn't calm down for a long time, bouncing around his dorm room. Just then, Xia Lin walked in. Marei glanced at him, sat down on his bed, and couldn't help but roll around again. Just as he was about to roll once more, a voice stopped him.

"Are you alright?"

Marei never had much affection for this roommate, who always appeared and disappeared unpredictably with a weird temperament, especially after suspecting there might be some hidden issues between him and Ling Chunann, perhaps even harm done to Ling Chunann. Marei, siding entirely with Ling Chunann, had no wish to talk to him. Yet, Ling Chunann had kindly helped this person find a summer job, though it didn't improve their relationship. To this day, they hadn't spoken for at least a year.

So, hearing Xia Lin suddenly speak to him, Marei's brain short-circuited for a moment before he weirdly glanced at him, "Thanks, I'm fine."

The next morning, Marei arrived at Ling Chunann's door, envying his living conditions as usual, then pressed his fingerprint on the door's scanner.

The door opened shortly after.

"Ah..." Marei choked back his words as he looked up, dumbfounded, "Nor, Teacher Nor? Why are you..." Here?

"Keep it down," Nor frowned, "Come in."

Marei followed Nor inside cautiously and took a seat on the sofa as directed, about to speak but silenced by the man's expressionless face.

"Sit tight, I'll go call him," Nor pointed to the dining table, "Breakfast is on the table, help yourself if you're hungry."

"Okay, thank you, Teacher," Marei said reservedly, breathing a sigh of relief only after Nor had left the living room, "Strange, why is Teacher Nor here?"

In his freshman year, Marei occasionally visited Ling Chunann with Karlo, marveling at the spacious and tidy dorm without a robot's aid. After Karlo somehow grew distant from Ling Chunann, and for gender reasons and fear of his father's misunderstanding, Marei hadn't visited much. Unexpectedly encountering Nor here, who seemed quite familiar with Ling Chunann, sparked curiosity.

Recalling the softening expression when Nor mentioned calling Ling Chunann, an idea crossed Marei's mind, which he quickly dismissed, "Impossible."

While pondering, Marei walked to the dining table, seeing three breakfasts of unfamiliar and beautifully prepared dishes, thinking, "Ling Chunann doesn't have a robot."

When Nor reentered, Ling Chunann was already awake, "Is Marei here?"

"Yeah, I told him to start breakfast," Nor wrapped an arm around Ling Chunann, handing him clothes from the bedside, "Rest a bit more, I'll dress you."

Ling Chunann fell back to sleep, lamenting how Nor hadn't given him a peaceful day since breaking his restraint two years ago, especially after discovering his dual cultivation manual, increasing his internal energy but occasionally causing discomfort. The notion of same-sex incompatibility seemed nonexistent to Nor.

Ten minutes later, Ling Chunann declined Nor's offer to carry him downstairs, freshened up, removing any conspicuous marks on his neck, and glanced reproachfully at Nor before heading down.

Marei, back at the sofa, was uneasy with his speculations, glancing towards the staircase and then at the tempting breakfast.

Seeing Ling Chunann descend, Marei stood up but became subdued upon noticing Nor closely following, standing aside obediently.

Ignoring Marei's discomfort and suspicions, Ling Chunann asked, "Why so early today? Don't you usually sleep till noon on weekends?"

Marei glanced at Nor before replying like he would to a teacher, "I woke up early today."

"Alright, let's eat. We'll leave soon after," Ling Chunann invited.

Marei looked at Nor again, seeing no reaction, then moved to the table but hesitated to sit.

Nor, without giving Marei another glance, set the table for Ling Chunann, "I'll get the porridge."

With Nor away, 098 whispered, "Host, the male lead noticed Marei's odd behavior last night. Knowing Marei was visiting the company today, he went ahead, likely up to no good," suspecting Xia Lin's every action.

Over the years, Xia Lin had made multiple attempts to scheme against Ling Chunann, all thwarted by 098 and often silently resolved by Nor, frustrating 098. It felt outmatched by Nor, despite him being merely human.

"Got it," Ling Chunann responded, "Keep an eye on him."

Marei remained dazed, staring towards the kitchen, seemingly in disbelief.

"Host, shouldn't we remind him?" 098 asked.

"Remind him of what?" Ling Chunann countered.

098: "...Okay, it forgot that it was because of this person's arrival that its host didn't get enough sleep, and now he's even waking up grumpy."

Marei, who had finished his breakfast as if chewing wax, looked at Ling Chunann wanting to say something but hesitated. Seeing Nor about to clear the table, he quickly stood up, "Teacher, let me do that."

Nor gave him a glance, and Marei's outstretched hand froze in place until Nor left. He then patted his chest, "Scary." Then, turning to Ling Chunann, he asked, "A'Chen, why is the teacher here?"

"He's coming with us today," Ling Chunann replied.

"Oh, you scared me. I thought he stayed over last night," Marei sighed, conveniently overlooking the fact that Nor had opened the door for him and the hot breakfast on the table, assuming Nor had only arrived that morning.

"My lord, you're here." As they reached the entrance, a young beta with a scholarly and handsome appearance greeted them warmly, "This must be the designer of Lan Ti Ya, so young. Dr. Butte will go crazy when he sees you." Then, noticing Nor behind them, his demeanor shifted from polite to that of a fervent fan, "War God, sir, please, you must sign an autograph for me before you leave."

Ling Chunann teased Nor with a glance. Nor then looked at Marei, who rubbed his nose sheepishly, "Kulun, lead us inside."

"Of course, my lord."

Once inside the company, Kulun led them straight to the mech research lab on the underground fifteenth floor.

Stopping, Kulun said, "Through this corridor is Dr. Butte's lab. He kicked me out earlier, saying he didn't want to see me for three days, so I won't go any further," he shrugged helplessly, "You go ahead. He's waiting inside for you."

"Ha, Dr. Butte is indeed a bit quirky," Marei laughed awkwardly, "Let's go in."

The lab door was open, but Dr. Butte was nowhere to be seen.

The lab occupied nearly three-quarters of the entire underground fifteenth floor, yet it wasn't filled with many instruments. Instead, it offered a vast space, making it look spacious and odd.

"This area is used by Dr. Butte for testing new mech functionalities. Although it might look the same everywhere, the gravity and spatial magnetic fields vary at intervals," Marei, who had been briefed by his father, proudly explained.

"This is known as Cotinas gravity performance, a part of spatial distortion studies," Nor explained to Ling Chunann.

Marei, outdone in his own game: "..."

"Are you the designer of Lan Ti Ya?"

At that moment, a voice alleviated the awkwardness that Marei had spread throughout the lab.

An alpha in a white robe, tall and holding a folder, stood behind them. After asking the question, his gaze remained fixed on Ling Chunann, clearly awaiting his response.

Ling Chunann nodded, "Yes, that's me."

"Supporting male character number three's favorability +80%, current favorability at 80%."

098: "!!!"
