The Counterattack Plan of A Villain With Ten Thousand Fans - Chapter 141

Chapter 141

Although this world has advanced to the era of interstellar travel and has seen the emergence of some space technology, the only space-related product currently available is the space buckle, specifically designed for mechas, and capable only of accommodating them. What convinced 098 that this space ring did not belong to this world was the fact that, despite the space technology of this world being based on scientific technology capable of scanning the interior of objects, this ring's energy was repelled upon reaching its edge.

"Where do you think this item comes from?" Ling Chunann asked.

"Host, it appears to be a spatial ring from the realm of immortal cultivation. However, it's strange. If it was brought here through soul transmigration, it should not be possible to bring such a ring," 098 replied.

"Hmm," Ling Chunann nodded noncommittally, "We'll find out once we ask."

"Indeed."

This ring was different from the jade pendant space Ling Chunann acquired in his first mission world; it could not be entered physically but connected with Ling Chunann's consciousness, thus 098 couldn't follow inside.

As Ling Chunann's consciousness delved into the space within the ring, 098 grew curious and wondered if there might be a chance to sneak in. Suddenly, Ling Chunann opened his eyes, startling 098, "Host, what's inside?"

"Do you want to know?" Ling Chunann asked.

"Yes, yes!" 098 eagerly responded.

Ling Chunann smiled mysteriously, "It's a secret."

As Noel had mentioned, the ring contained a mecha, but what surprised Ling Chunann even more was the space inside the ring looked very... unique. After much thought, 'unique' was the only descriptive term Ling Chunann could come up with.

Feeling misled again, 098 decided to ignore his host for the entire day. However, just an hour later, 098 couldn't resist and said, "Host, you should check out the hottest news on StarNet."

"Is it about Noel's return?" Ling Chunann asked without looking up.

"...To work with such a host is too damaging to a system's pride."

Yet, Ling Chunann still checked StarNet. The once tepid news platform was now boiling over with topics revolving around the return of the Empire's War God, with many details strikingly accurate.

"Host, could someone have captured your image?" 098 asked nervously, worried about Ling Chunann being exposed. However, it had been vigilant of their surroundings, making it unlikely anyone could have photographed Ling Chunann.

"Don't worry, titles like that are just sensationalism," Ling Chunann reassured 098 calmly, "Haven't you done the same before?"

"...I was not seeking sensationalism," 098 slightly protested.

"Alright, alright, you had evidence," Ling Chunann shrugged, then clicked on the news headline.

The post, made by a student of the Imperial Academy, who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, revealed their excitement upon spotting the legendary figure of the Empire, believed dead for thirty years. The post was filled with idolizing ramblings, which Ling Chunann quickly scrolled past to find two blurry photos of a figure. The quality was so poor that distinguishing whether the subject was human or animal was impossible.

098, after worrying for so long, realized its host was right; it was all just sensationalism.

"In this world, to capture such a blurry photo is indeed a skill," Ling Chunann acknowledged the poster's effort.

In a dormitory of the Imperial Academy, Marui, elated by the rapid increase in his post's viewership, contemplated a future career as an interstellar journalist.

"What's got you so happy?" asked Shalin, rubbing his slightly bruised eye.

"Just a small thing," Marui responded warmly to his new, thin, and small roommate. Just as he was about to share his accomplishment, his attention was drawn to Shalin's wrist, "Hey, why aren't you wearing your identity bracelet?"

"I... I lost it. It's none of your business," Shalin pulled down his sleeve to cover his wrist, "I'm going to sleep. Keep it down."

"Oh." Any goodwill Marui had felt instantly vanished. He returned to his seat and opened the communication group chat.

Later, Ling Chunann's communicator lit up with messages from the group chat Marui had added him to earlier that day.

Marui's conversation revealed the coincidence of his roommate being the male protagonist, who was now also assigned to the mecha design department.

"Host, what a coincidence, his roommate turns out to be the male lead, and he's now in the mecha design department," 098 informed.

Ling Chunann nodded, indicating his awareness, and then began to type.

The conversation in the group chat unfolded, revealing connections and misunderstandings about relationships and backgrounds, with Ling Chunann eventually turning off the communicator.

"Number one male supporting character's favorability -5%,

 current favorability at 75%."

Why? 098 was puzzled. Carlode had only spoken a few words; how had his favorability decreased?

"It turns out I have another childhood friend, and he's jealous," Ling Chunann said with a smile, "He'll get over it and it'll go back up."

"Comeback value +5%, current comeback value at 25%. Host, please keep up the good work."

This sudden increase in comeback value caught 098 off guard, "What's going on?"

"A person's circumstances and mindset greatly influence their success," Ling Chunann explained to 098.

"Huh?" 098 was even more confused.

"098, I seriously doubt your intelligence. I suggest you get a check-up," Ling Chunann earnestly recommended.

The next day, as Ling Chunann was leaving the hotel, a hovercar pulled up in front of him, and the door opened automatically.

"Good morning, Teacher Noel," Ling Chunann greeted the person in the driver's seat.

"I'm heading to school. Want to join?" the man offered with a smile.

"No, thanks. I'll go on my own," Ling Chunann declined, then turned and walked away.

Noel's gaze lingered on the ring on Ling Chunann's left middle finger for a moment before he drove off with a smile.

"Host, why didn't you go with him?" 098 asked. Passing up such an opportunity wasn't like its host.

"I don't like being ogled like a gorilla," Ling Chunann replied.

The previous night, at the height of online discussions, the Imperial Royal Family issued a statement revealing that Noel had become comatose after encountering a random black hole thirty years ago and had only recently awakened. Additionally, it was announced that Prince Noel Yiranks had signed a contract with the Imperial Academy to become the head of the mecha department for some time.

This series of news was like a bomb dropped into an already tumultuous sea, leaving countless citizens of the Empire sleepless.

As Ling Chunann had anticipated, upon his arrival at school, he found the entrance of the Imperial Academy swarming with people eager to see Noel. Given the academy's policy against interstellar media interference, those gathered were mostly students and teachers, each with an eager expression.

After standing at the entrance for a few seconds and facing an impenetrable crowd, Ling Chunann decided to take the back entrance.

"Excuse me, do you know how to get to the back entrance?" a polite voice asked from behind Ling Chunann.

"Host, it's the second male supporting character," 098 noted excitedly. What a coincidence.

"Actually, I'm headed that way myself. Shall we go together?" Ling Chunann offered.

"Thank you," the second male supporting character extended his hand, "Nice to meet you. I'm Nix, a second-year student in the mecha department."

"Yu Yichen, first-year in the mecha department," Ling Chunann shook Nix's hand.

"Second male supporting character's favorability +10%, current favorability at 10%."

098 admired this male supporting character, "He really is a good person."

"One cannot judge a book by its cover, 098," Ling Chunann cautioned, "Remember the male lead? Wasn't he portrayed positively in the original text?"

098 became vigilant, "Understood, Host."

"Good, you're teachable," Ling Chunann inwardly nodded, then added, "But this supporting character indeed is a good person."
