The Counterattack Plan of A Villain With Ten Thousand Fans - Chapter 114

Chapter 114

As dusk fell, the once bustling streets quieted down. Rats, hidden in the sewers during the day, scurried out in search of food in the trash bins. A large grey rat, clutching something dark in its mouth, chewed noisily as it hid in a crevice near a wall. A vagrant, dragging a large burlap bag, approached from the alley, unbothered by the rat that continued to gnaw on its find. "Huh?" he paused, noticing the rat, "Such a large piece of meat thrown away, what are people thinking these days..." he muttered, releasing the bag and moving towards the rat in the corner.

The next morning, in front of a neighborhood bun shop, one person stopped another. "Did you hear? Something happened on Songshi Road last night. The homeless there were terrified." "What's so strange about that? That street's always been trouble. The homeless should be used to it by now." "This time it's different. This time," the speaker lowered their voice, "someone died. They say the body was found drained of all blood, and rats had even started to gnaw off one of the arms."

"Not a drop of blood? Are you joking? Was it vampires? Stop kidding around." "I'm serious, why would I lie to you?"

Their conversation faded as they walked away. The plump bun shop owner addressed a young man in a baseball cap, "Young man, would you like some buns? The pork buns are fresh out of the oven, 1.5 yuan each." "Sure, three pork buns." Ling Chunann handed over five yuan, "Keep the change. Could you tell me where Songshi Road is?" "It's the third alley to the east," the owner replied, pleased with the extra fifty cents. "I've always said that place has bad feng shui. There's always trouble there, and just last night, there was a murder. Terrible." He glanced at Ling Chunann, "Such a handsome young man. Take my advice, don't go down that alley at night. Just last month, a young man was assaulted there. It's a curse, I tell you."

Walking down the street, Ling Chunann handed his buns to a little beggar at the corner, who timidly thanked him and devoured one before carefully tucking the rest into his jacket and darting into a nearby alley.

Standing still for a few seconds, Ling Chunann touched his lips, feeling a bit parched, "098, I'm getting hungry."

This narrative is set against a modern backdrop featuring vampires, uniquely centered around a female protagonist entangled romantically with several male leads. The protagonist, an ordinary college student, possesses a physique irresistibly attractive to vampires, contrasting her childhood friend and boyfriend, a vampire hunter.

Unlike typical narratives advocating justice, this tale is a romance preparation, diverging from logical expectations. The protagonist does not end up with her gentle and considerate childhood friend but finds love among the vampires indirectly responsible for her boyfriend's demise.

Ling Chunann is the childhood friend in question, Shu Yiheng, a vampire hunter who, after a fight with one of the male leads, is bitten by a prince-level vampire to protect the protagonist. Concealing his injury, he sends the protagonist home and attempts suicide.

However, Shu Yiheng's suicide fails. Overwhelmed by blood loss, he falls unconscious and, upon awakening, loses his sanity due to the conflicting powers within him, nearly killing the protagonist in a vampiric frenzy. Fortuitously regaining clarity, the protagonist narrowly escapes death.

Despite losing his memory, Shu Yiheng remembers to view the male lead as an adversary and continues to love the protagonist, expressing a final warning against trusting vampires with his dying breath, a caution the protagonist disregards.

Ling Chunann arrives at the moment of Shu Yiheng's attempted suicide, awakening with his wounds healed and, possibly due to a fusion device, harbors a new power that doesn't impede usage, a harmonious blend of all his energies.

His mission is to prevent the protagonist from ending up with any of the vampires.

What seemed like a straightforward task on the surface quickly became complex as Ling Chunann reviewed the number and qualities of the male leads, along with their appearances and locations. He concluded that the root cause must be traced back to the female protagonist herself. Her allure to vampires stemmed entirely from her unique constitution; remove that, and she would be just an ordinary girl. However, identifying and altering this special trait was far from simple, as the original text provided no clues.

Ling Chunann's immediate concern was to check on the vampire prince, one of the male leads, who was still weak from the previous night's encounter. Although the prince had fed, he had been seriously injured by Shu Yiheng. According to the story, it was near this location that the female protagonist found and took him home the following day.

Considering that the female protagonist encountered a wounded, suspicious man and yet exhibited no wariness, Ling Chunann couldn't help but question her naivety or foolishness.

Songshi Road was now cordoned off, the body removed, and the homeless man taken for questioning. Only a few police officers remained, sifting through the foul-smelling trash bins, while bystanders kept their distance, overwhelmed by the stench. Ling Chunann, now with heightened vampiric senses, noticed the blood vessels on the necks of several onlookers but felt no hunger for their blood, evidencing his particular taste as a vampire.

His phone rang, displaying "Dear," which nearly slipped from his startled grip. "Host, it must be the female protagonist calling," 098 chimed in, referencing Ling Chunann's past vulnerability around Fu Xianzhi, now a habit.

Recognizing the caller, Ling Chunann answered, already aware of who it was. 098, accustomed to his host's denials, remained silent.

"Yiheng, come quickly. I found someone near my home," the female protagonist's voice rang clearly from the phone. "My parents are away on a trip, and he's badly hurt. I'm scared."

"Stay away from him; I'll be right there," Ling Chunann responded, heading to her street and picking up breakfast along the way.

Living just two streets away from Su Ziqi—once neighbors with Shu Yiheng in childhood, and still owning an apartment above hers—Ling Chunann hurried through the old neighborhood, its ground paved with cobblestones and elderly residents enjoying the morning sun.

Even before reaching Su Ziqi's apartment, Ling Chunann detected a unique fragrance that stirred his vampiric senses, despite his impure bloodline.

"Yiheng, you're here!" greeted a pretty, innocent-looking young woman, her eyes sparkling at the sight of Ling Chunann.

Handing her the breakfast, Ling Chunann asked about the handsome man slumped on the sofa, "Is this him?"

"Yes, I found him lying on the street corner during my morning run, asking for help."

"And you brought him home?" Ling Chunann frowned. "Did it not occur to you that he might be dangerous?"

"I just couldn't bear to see him in pain," Su Ziqi replied, feeling guilty but reassured by Ling Chunann's presence. "He hasn't harmed me..."

Ling Chunann pointed out the man's suspicious appearance, including tattoos that hinted at a dubious character. Su Ziqi, easily persuaded, wondered what to do now that she had brought him home.

"We can't leave him here if he dies; it would involve us both. I'll take him to the hospital," Ling Chunann decided, preparing to carry the unconscious male lead.

Su Ziqi, setting down her breakfast, offered to accompany him, but Ling Chunann reassured her to stay home, promising to return soon and considering moving back in.

"Really? That would be wonderful!" Su Ziqi beamed, momentarily forgetting about the male lead.

Ling Chunann, carrying the man with ease but little gentleness, cloaked himself in darkness to avoid detection, heading towards the hospital as 098 questioned his intentions.

As 098 pondered Ling Chunann's newfound kindness, he watched in surprise as Ling Chunann stopped by a deserted ditch, casually dropping the vampire prince into it.
