Descending the mall's escalator, Ling Chunann chose a Western restaurant on the eighth floor. As soon as they entered, 098 detected the presence of the male lead and Mu Linyu.
"What a coincidence," Ling Chunann remarked, diverting his gaze from the attractive couple seated inside the restaurant.
...It seemed more like a planned encounter.
In less than a month, Ling Chunann had lost nearly half his weight. Both he and 098 were pleased with his now slender arms and legs. Ling Chunann felt more agile than before, and since 098's aesthetic favored slimness, Ling Chunann's current physique met its standards perfectly.
Thanks to the weight loss, Ling Chunann's eyes, which were almost invisible before, were now large and bright. His facial features bore a slight resemblance to Mu Linjun, whom he had seen that day, though not as striking. Nonetheless, he was considered quite handsome among men.
Ling Chunann rated his current appearance an eighty, believing his original look was more attractive.
As Ling Chunann looked away, Mu Linyu's gaze briefly met his but quickly shifted to Fu Xianzhi. Unlike other robotic companions, Fu Xianzhi bore no distinguishing marks and could easily pass for a human. His near-perfect looks were enough to turn heads, even catching Mu Linyu's admiring glance.
"What are you looking at?" Ye Chufeng, noticing Mu Linyu's diverted attention, followed her gaze to Ling Chunann and Fu Xianzhi, now seated with their backs to them. He quickly concluded that Ling Chunann, despite his good looks, wasn't Mu Linyu's type; she preferred someone like him.
This realization put Ye Chufeng at ease.
"Do you think that boy looks familiar?" Mu Linyu mused, finally snapping out of her reverie.
After a closer look, Ye Chufeng agreed, "Yeah, he does resemble Mu Linjun." Mentioning Mu Linjun darkened Ye Chufeng's mood; he preferred someone gentler, despite her beauty.
Despite the resemblance, neither recognized Ling Chunann.
Ye Chufeng, aware of Ling Chunann's rumored disfigurement from hospital reports, and Mu Linyu, who remembered her cousin as an unattractive, sickly figure, failed to connect the dots.
098 relayed their conversation to Ling Chunann, who laughed, "Mu Linyu's glance at Fu Xianzhi was definitely interested."
"Really?" 098 was surprised, not having noticed. "How can you tell?"
"Let's bet she'll ask him to dance," Ling Chunann suggested, amused.
098 hesitated, knowing better than to challenge Ling Chunann, whose wit often left it in the dust.
An hour later, as both parties were finishing their meals, Mu Linyu approached them. "Based on her earlier behavior, she hasn't recognized you," 098 cautioned. "Be careful; her intentions are unclear."
Mu Linyu, maintaining a polite smile, invited them for drinks, clearly targeting Fu Xianzhi with her gaze. The decision rested with Ling Chunann, who promptly declined, "No, thank you. We have other plans."
Apologizing, Fu Xianzhi echoed Ling Chunann's refusal, leaving Mu Linyu to return to Ye Chufeng, visibly disappointed.
As they left the restaurant, 098 questioned Ling Chunann's refusal, "Why decline? Weren't we planning to come here?"
Ling Chunann clarified, "I did plan to come here, but not with her. Plus, isn't it satisfying to see her upset?"
At the bar entrance, a hostess requested their membership card. Fu Xianzhi, undeterred by the lack of a card, suggested checking his name. Impressed by his appearance and status, the hostess warmly welcomed them, "Mr. Fu, your private room is number one, but please follow me."
Preferring a more open setting, Ling Chunann opted for a booth outside the private rooms.
"The first private room is reserved for you," the hostess said with a smile. "Should you need anything, please feel free to call on our bar's service staff," she added, guiding them to a quiet booth. "What would you like to drink?"
After the hostess left, Ling Chunann turned to Fu Xianzhi, "How did you manage that?" He had obtained a membership card for the bar through 098, albeit only a premium one, but Fu Xianzhi's treatment suggested something beyond a standard premium membership.
"I hacked into their system and modified their membership model, then inserted my name into it. But mentioning your name would have the same effect as mine," Fu Xianzhi explained.
"Impressive!" Ling Chunann complimented.
Fu Xianzhi responded with a kiss, "Thank you, darling."
098 felt inadequate in comparison. Altering a fully developed program without detection, especially against a large tech company like the Blue Light Group, would take it at least twelve hours to achieve a flawless result. Fu Xianzhi had managed it in less than six hours.
Ignoring 098's self-pity, Ling Chunann, with a drink in hand, watched the male lead and Mu Linyu become the center of attention on the dance floor, enjoying the limelight.
"Want to dance?" Fu Xianzhi asked, noticing Ling Chunann's interest as a slow song began and couples gathered on the dance floor.
Ling Chunann, observing the dance steps which weren't too different from his world, looked up at Fu Xianzhi, "Interested in joining?"
Fu Xianzhi, eager to comply with Ling Chunann's wish, led him to the dance floor. Their world being open-minded about relationships, including those between humans and robots, their same-sex pairing drew no unusual attention. However, their exceptional looks did attract many glances, especially towards Fu Xianzhi, whose beauty was undeniable.
After dancing, they returned to their booth, followed by many who sought their contact information, including Mu Linyu and the male lead.
Ye Chufeng, dragged there by Mu Linyu, maintained a polite facade but his eyes betrayed disdain and rivalry. He couldn't understand why the heiress was so captivated by someone just because of their looks, especially since she was still his girlfriend.
Mu Linyu, seemingly oblivious to Ye Chufeng's irritation—or perhaps not as attached to him—confronted the pair, "Didn't you say you were busy? What brings you to the bar?"
Recognizing Mu Linyu as a regular, the bar's patrons discreetly gave them space while remaining attentive to the unfolding drama.
Ling Chunann, unfazed and unacquainted with them, retorted, "Miss, I don't believe there's a rule that says you can't discuss business in a bar."
Mu Linyu, unaccustomed to such direct challenges, flushed with anger.
"And don't you know how to take a hint? We made it clear we weren't interested at the restaurant. Approaching us like this will only hurt your reputation," Ling Chunann added, not willing to let her off easily.
The onlookers, initially amused, remembered Mu Linyu's status and quickly silenced themselves, though their faces turned red from holding back laughter.
Mu Linyu, about to lash out, restrained herself upon seeing the crowd's reaction, swallowing her grievances. Turning, she walked back to her booth, her face sour as she realized she had lost face in front of everyone.
Ye Chufeng, silent throughout, was equally displeased. No man would be happy seeing his girlfriend openly flirt with others, only to be rejected.
Sitting back down, Mu Linyu, still seething, fixated on Ling Chunann and Fu Xianzhi, determined to make them pay. Suddenly, a smirk crossed her lips as she devised a plan, thinking, "You'll see if you look down on me."
