The Villain Slaps The Protagonist’s Halo - Chapter 151

Chapter 151: The Final Chapter of Reality

"Dad?"

Nie Jia turned around to gaze at the man before him with indifferent eyes. This man's age was indiscernible, except for his boundless black eyes. He bore a resemblance of about five or six points to Nie Jia. In his gaze towards Nie Jia, there was a warmth akin to sunlight, along with a subtle nervousness and a glint of sorrow.

He stood up somewhat awkwardly under Nie Jia's scrutinizing gaze, his expression tense as he said, "I suppose your mother, Anna, never mentioned me to you, did she?"

Nie Jia remained silent for a moment, withdrawing his gaze from him, showing no change in emotion. "Where is this place?" he asked.

"The Sea of Nescience," Sekharo replied. "I am the lord of the Sea of Nescience. You're safe here; no one can harm you."

The Sea of Nescience, a place beyond borders, where he had finally succeeded in distancing himself from Shi Chen.

Nie Jia fell silent, feeling all strength drain from his body in an instant.

Observing Nie Jia's demeanor, Sekharo felt a tinge of disappointment. "It seems you're not pleased to see me, and rightly so. After all, I've never appeared in your life. But there's someone I'm sure you'll be delighted to see." Sekharo raised his voice. "Come in!"

The door opened, revealing a young man standing outside, his spirit dazed. Tears streamed down his face at the sight of Nie Jia, and he choked out, rushing forward to tightly embrace him.

"Doctor! Doctor... I've finally found you..."

"Merlin?" Nie Jia raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Long before, Nie Jia had thought he had forgotten everyone from the Freedom Legion. However, upon waking up and seeing that blood-stained soldier's tag before him, he could vividly recall each and every person, even their peculiar quirks.

Fei Duan, Minnie, KGB, Hikin... Everyone, he remembered clearly.

"It's me. I'm still alive, but the captain and everyone else... they're all gone..." Merlin choked on his tears, filled with endless grief.

Sekharo left the room, allowing Nie Jia and his former comrades to catch up.

"How did you end up here?" Nie Jia asked once Merlin's emotions had somewhat stabilized.

"Lord Sekharo saved me. He also buried the captain and others here. Do you want to see them?" Merlin stopped crying, his voice choked with emotion.

Merlin led Nie Jia outside. The Sea of Nescience was a vibrant place. Merlin guided Nie Jia through gardens and verdant paths until suddenly, before them lay a vast expanse, a resting place where countless familiar souls slept.

Nie Jia walked to Fei Duan's grave, slowly crouching down. His face remained expressionless as he stared at Fei Duan's name, lost in thought.

"The captain would be happy to know that you're safe now," Merlin said, his eyes red as he sniffled.

Nie Jia said indifferently, "He's already dead. How could he know?"

Merlin froze, unsure of what to say for a moment. He stood behind Nie Jia in silence for a long time before finally reaching into his pocket, pulling out a chain and handing it to Nie Jia. "Doctor, this is your soldier's tag. The captain wanted me to tell you not to blame yourself."

With that, Merlin turned and left.

Nie Jia toyed with the cold steel tag bearing his name. With Merlin's sobbing gone, the surroundings fell into utter silence.

Sunlight bathed the verdant fields like a gentle painting. Nie Jia knelt before Fei Duan's grave, tears falling silently, his shoulders trembling more and more violently.

It was all over.

When Sekharo found him, he stood at the path's edge, silently watching Nie Jia's figure for a while before ultimately deciding not to approach, quietly leaving.

That evening, Nie Jia didn't return to the room where he had woken up. Instead, he walked forward, seeking the nearest space station.

As a faint rumble sounded behind him, Nie Jia turned around to see a massive black figure charging towards him amidst flames. Cautiously stepping back, he only recognized the figure once it landed – a heavily armored mobile warrior, entirely encased in sturdy, formidable armor, creating a resounding impact upon landing.

A silver-haired young girl suddenly popped her head out from the warrior's shoulder, looking at Nie Jia and asking, "Where are you headed?"

Nie Jia glanced momentarily at the towering warrior before him, standing over two meters tall, before shifting his gaze to the girl. "I remember your voice," he said. Before losing consciousness, he had heard that sweet yet hollow voice.

The warrior emitted a long exhale, while the girl tilted her head. "My name is Lilinia."

One was from the Flower God Tribe, and the other from the Giant Tribe. Nie Jia weighed his chances against these two in a fight, then said indifferently, "I want to leave. Do you plan to stop me?"

The warrior's deep voice rumbled, "Does Master know?"

"He is your master, not mine. I don't need his permission to go anywhere." Nie Jia turned away indifferently.

As he took a step, he felt a tug on his ankle. Turning back, he saw a green vine, resembling a live snake, flying out from Lilinia's sleeve and tightly wrapping around his ankle. Nie Jia frowned in displeasure. So thin that it was nearly invisible, the vine snapped in the night with a crack, broken by Nie Jia's strength.

Lilinia, caught off guard, almost fell off the warrior's shoulder due to inertia. The warrior's large hand carefully caught her, lowering her to the ground gently, while dangerous white mist spewed from his armor, seemingly angry.

"I cannot let you leave without Master's orders," the warrior's right hand dropped low, and with a clang, a mechanized blade popped out, indicating his intent to fight Nie Jia.

Nie Jia tilted his head slightly, his fingers clenching and then relaxing, showing signs of growing impatience. "You're asking for it."

"Stop!" Sekharo, eyebrows furrowed like scissors, came rushing in angrily.

Following behind him, with a dissatisfied expression, was Fu Kai, who said to the warrior, "What are you planning to do?"

The warrior immediately knelt down humbly before Sekharo, "The young master wants to leave."

Sekharo furrowed his brows, turning to Nie Jia in surprise. "Where do you want to go?"

"Back to the Empire. I have unfinished business." Nie Jia replied indifferently.

"What can I do for you? I don't want you to go back. It's dangerous for you there." Sekharo looked worried. "With incidents like the Tribunal, you might have become a wanted criminal in the interstellar realm."

Nie Jia completely disregarded his concern, raising an eyebrow. "Do you want to restrict my freedom?"

Sekharo sighed. Stepping forward, he pressed Nie Jia's shoulders, sincerely saying, "I know my sudden appearance may not make you believe me, but you should understand that in the current situation, once you leave the Sea of Nescience, you'll be subject to comprehensive pursuit. I don't know what's so important that you have to leave immediately, but I hope you can trust me. I just want to protect you."

Nie Jia ungratefully pushed away his hands. "I'm very grateful that you buried my companions. Within my means, you can ask for repayment from me. Since you don't need me to do anything to show gratitude, then don't interfere with my affairs."

Sekharo was stunned for a moment, seemingly especially surprised by Nie Jia's cold and indifferent attitude. "Jia Jia... do you not trust me? I really am your father."

"So what?" Nie Jia's response left him bewildered. "I want to leave here. What does it have to do with your identity?"

Sekharo, with a mix of sadness and anger, furrowed his brows. "The Empire took away my beloved Anna and harmed you. I hate that place and won't allow you to be persecuted by the Empire again! So, I won't allow you to return to that place that I despise! Do you still remember your situation before coming here? The people of the Empire trapped you in a virtual world and subjected you to endless torment. Going back there means death!"

"When your men took me away, it was Shi Chen who caught me. He is my lover, and he would never harm me. You're overthinking, and your reach is too long." Nie Jia said.

Sekharo's pupils dilated. "Shi Chen? From the Information Security Department?"

"Yes." Nie Jia's voice carried a hint of warmth only when mentioning Shi Chen. "You took me away in front of Shi Chen. He doesn't know if you're a friend or foe, what your purpose is in taking me away. Once he finds this place, your peaceful days will be over. So, mind your own business."

"How... how could you have been with Shi Chen?" Sekharo was utterly astonished.

Nie Jia raised his eyebrow like a drawn bowstring. "Why, are you very familiar with my past?"

Sekharo fell silent for a moment, not answering Nie Jia's question directly, but instead asking, "So you want to leave here to find Shi Chen?"

Nie Jia didn't respond, his gaze scrutinizing Sekharo with suspicion.

Sekharo angrily said, "He's the director of the Information Security Department, one of the Empire's renowned figures. If he really loves you, he wouldn't harm you. With his status and abilities, how could he let you be trapped in the Tribunal for so long, suffering harm? I can't forgive him for standing by and doing nothing, nor can I allow you to be with him. If he dares to find the Sea of Nescience, I will definitely kill him!"

Before Sekharo finished speaking, Nie Jia suddenly grabbed his collar, his eyes filled with chilling killing intent.

"I don't care who you are, whether you're my blood father or not, to me, you're just a stranger. Do you know what happens when a stranger vilifies Shi Chen in front of me?"
