Chapter 149 The Final Chapter of Reality
When the deafening tremors ceased, the entire West Coast was flattened in that moment.
Even the ability users on the East Coast couldn't help but feel their hearts skip a beat at the disappearance of the West Coast, unsure when this catastrophe would end.
Shen Su hadn't even had time to heal his wounds before flashing back to the command center of Qinghai Gate, snatching Song Nuanyang away from He Qingtang and delivering her to Nie Jia's side, panting heavily, "You took away Nuanyang's abilities. She's not an ordinary person. Don't hurt her!"
With the disappearance of the West Coast, Nie Jia's fate was already sealed.
Song Nuanyang felt hopeless, tears blurring her vision as she looked at Nie Jia.
Nie Jia said, "If you don't want him to die, keep an eye on him and stop meddling!"
Before the words fell, Nie Jia disappeared.
Song Nuanyang futilely took a step forward, knowing in her heart that there was no room for reversal, and Nie Jia had destroyed everything with his own hands.
He truly slaughtered all of humanity, unstoppable by anyone.
"Goodbye," Song Nuanyang said blankly.
Imperial Information Security Bureau, Shi Chen suddenly woke up in the fusion cabin, countless bright bats emitting ear-piercing screams under the intense mental resonance, causing rows of wall lights and floor windows to burst. The unbearable high-frequency screams of the bright bats filled the entire floor, everyone covering their ears in agony, their expressions contorted in pain.
"Director! My heart's about to explode! Control your bright bats!" Ye Ying stood by the fusion cabin, shouting desperately while covering her ears.
The vast expanse of bright bats quieted down, and the staff on the floor finally regained their senses. The commotion indicated that Director Shi had awakened.
The cabin door opened with a brush, and a slender, powerful hand slammed onto the door. Ye Ying approached, seeing Shi Chen, whose forehead was covered in cold sweat.
The bright bats were Shi Chen's ability, directly connected to his mind. Director Shi had never experienced such intense emotions affecting even the bright bats. Ye Ying couldn't help but feel a pang of unease: "Director... What happened?"
Shi Chen slowly raised his head to look at her, a suffocating aura of gloom surrounding him: "I was killed in front of Jia Jia."
Ye Ying gasped in shock, "Then Mr. Nie..."
Shi Chen didn't hesitate anymore, barefooted, he leaped out of the fusion cabin and walked out on his own, his shirt already drenched in cold sweat.
"Where are you going?" Ye Ying handed Shi Chen his uniform jacket, following behind him and asking.
"To the Imperial Tribunal to rescue someone!" Shi Chen's tone was fierce.
Nie Jia had been trapped in the Imperial Tribunal for too long. He had accompanied Nie Jia through several lifetimes in the cycle, clearly aware that he was the only pillar in Nie Jia's spiritual world. Now that he had been killed in front of Nie Jia, the impact on Nie Jia was immense. Just thinking about it made Shi Chen ache.
Most importantly, his Nie Jia was a coward. Even experiencing life and death in the virtual world might make him retreat into his shell again.
Ye Ying panicked, "But we don't have enough evidence here. Are you going to rush in directly? That's a crime. Have you thought about the consequences?"
"I'm not a goddamn immortal. I can't control that much!" Shi Chen strode forward with large, purposeful steps, his tone adding a hint of impatience to Ye Ying's inquiry.
Ye Ying dared not ask any more questions. She couldn't stop her superior from doing what he wanted. She could only inform Shi Shu.
In the meeting room of the Border Legion, a woman with long hair was sleeping with her feet propped up on the long table. The rank on her shoulder showed that she held military power, but at this moment, while everyone else in the room was nervously discussing matters, she was sound asleep, her military cap covering her face, emitting a somewhat roguish aura reminiscent of Shi Chen.
"Colonel Shi!" someone burst into the meeting room, pushing the door open and rushing in.
Shi Shu tilted her head, and her cap fell to the ground. Rubbing her eyes sleepily, she looked at the uniformed person who entered, "From the Information Security Bureau? What's up? Is my brother looking for me?"
"Our director went to the Imperial Tribunal, saying he didn't want to wait a second longer and wanted to rush in to rescue someone!"
The three words "Imperial Tribunal" were like a code between the siblings. After hearing this, Shi Shu immediately jumped up, her eyes wide open, "What!"
The people in the room were puzzled, looking nervously at their superior.
"Call in everyone with a black star on their shoulder!" Shi Shu's eyebrows were filled with rage.
As soon as she finished speaking, the junior officers without stars on their shoulders immediately left. No one dared to inquire, and soon, several officers with a row of black stars on their shoulders came in, their presence shaking the eardrums of those in the security department.
"General!" they saluted crisply.
"Lead the troops and follow me to surround the Imperial Tribunal!" Shi Shu waved her hand, as if she was about to go into battle.
"Yes, General!" The officers responded in unison, their voices trembling, causing the ears of the people in the security department to numb.
She was a little panicked: "General, aren't you going to stop Director?"
From the looks of it, it seemed like she was going to aid the villain.
"What's there to stop? The Tribunal knows perfectly well what they've done. If they dare harm a single hair on my brother's or my future sister-in-law's head, I'll raze the Tribunal to the ground. A mere Tribunal, whatever happens, I, Shi Shu, can bear the consequences!"
The people from the Security Department were on the verge of tears. This was turning into a major incident!
When Nie Jia woke up again, everything that had once been felt like a fleeting, empty dream. Trapped in the alloy blood breeding capsule, his entire body submerged in a pale yellow solution, when he opened his eyes, the icy liquid flowed into his eye sockets, bubbles swirling before him, his mind filled only with the dull sound of the respirator.
"You're awake. Your guilt value exceeds the death penalty's highest standard by three times. Do you understand the magnitude of this?" A blond man in Tribunal uniform approached Nie Jia, tapping the capsule's surface. With a perverse excitement in his eyes, he said to Nie Jia, "It means you're now a complete monster!"
Nie Jia's face was pale, his expression unusually weary. He listened to the man's mockery with little reaction, floating in and out of consciousness in the blood breeding capsule, his breathing heavy yet steady.
But the man persisted in his taunting, retrieving a bloodstained soldier's tag from a drawer and returning, a string of them clinking together, plastering them against the capsule for Nie Jia to face up close.
Others in the room crowded around, curious to see Nie Jia's reaction.
"Do you know what these are? You must be very familiar with the names on these tags. I hope you haven't forgotten because you spent too much time in the virtual world." He picked up a soldier's tag smeared with dried blood, scraped off the stains with his nails, and with a tone that sounded like he was telling a bedtime story, he cruelly recounted the names on each tag and how each person died.
A hint of killing intent slowly appeared in Nie Jia's eyes, no longer half-closed in exhaustion. He silently stared at the blond man before him, his gaze so fierce it was intimidating.
Onlookers were startled, some noticing the strange change in Nie Jia's right eye, the cold, sharp vertical pupil sending shivers down their spines.
"Oh, and this person, Alex..."
Before the blond man could continue listing names, Nie Jia's arm pierced through the single-crystal window of the blood breeding capsule with a bang, grabbing the man's throat.
Liquid gushed out from the shattered window, covering the floor, as the blond man turned red from suffocation, feet lifted off the ground by Nie Jia's grip, soldier's tags scattering from his hand. He struggled violently, but with few combat personnel within the Tribunal, no one dared to approach to rescue him, only able to call for security.
With a forceful twist of Nie Jia's fingertip, there was a crisp snap, and the blond man's head slumped to the side, lifeless. After letting go, he immediately collapsed to the ground, motionless, no longer exuding the arrogance he had just displayed.
Nie Jia's pale arm slowly retracted through the small window of the blood breeding capsule, returning to silence. The room fell silent, others shocked by the sudden drastic change, momentarily too scared to move, trembling as they looked from afar at the dark window of the blood breeding capsule.
"Congratulations, you've successfully turned me into the monster you imagined. Are you happy?" Nie Jia's hoarse voice came quietly from inside the blood breeding capsule.
With a thunderous roar, the entire alloy cabin door flew out horizontally as if it had exploded, clanging into the wall, its impact so strong it punched through the wall, causing the people inside to panic and scream in terror.
Faint black mist and the solution from the capsule surged out together. Nie Jia tore off the breathing apparatus on his face and stepped out of the cabin door. His breath was heavy and long, reaching out to comb his wet hair back with his fingertips, revealing his pale, handsome face, tinged with exhaustion.
"Where are the members of the Prosecution Team?" Nie Jia glanced at the scattered soldier's tags on the ground, not bothering to pick them up, his gaze assessing the few people in front of him like he was appraising objects.
"They have, uh, other cases... We're not members of the Prosecution Team, so we don't know where they are now... We're just..."
"So, you're the programming team that built one tormenting world after another for me." Nie Jia gave a bitter smile, bending down to pick up a piece of glass from the ground.
Several people's faces changed at his words, immediately sensing the killing intent in his voice.
Before they could react, Nie Jia had already flashed to one person's side. In the blink of an eye, blood splattered on the white walls as none managed to escape.
When Nie Jia walked out of the room, blood covered his body and face. He kicked open the opposite door, revealing another data collection room, lined with a dozen or so blood breeding capsules, each containing people quietly trapped in the virtual world. Nie Jia punched through one door after another, and the dozen or so people gradually woke up in confusion.
"You're free." Nie Jia's words were cold.
Two guards arrived late with guns, running into the corridor and seeing Nie Jia standing quietly down the hall. The guards immediately aimed their guns, but the next moment, a large group of people rushed out from behind him, shouting excitedly and madly. Among them were even ability users, and with a wave of their hands, the guards' guns turned into shattered crystals.
As a dozen fierce-looking people rushed out, the guards lost their weapons, scared out of their wits, and turned to flee for their lives.
