After KK finished speaking, Nie Jia fell silent.
"Kill all of humanity? Regardless of the motives, this can never be 'right'!" Nie Jia exclaimed angrily.
KK sighed in resignation. "I understand."
Nie Jia understood inwardly. The Prosecution Unit must have noticed a gradual decline in his criminal personality data, hence they assigned him this task. Regardless of completion, there would be consequences.
"Nie Jia, the attack on Airbus and the assassination of several leaders have been reported. If you abandon your stance and join the government forces, no further pursuit will be made. Otherwise, we'll use all military force to eliminate you!" Chief Su stated solemnly, putting down the loudspeaker.
He was the protagonist of this world, a fifth-tier metal ability user, and one of Hua Nation's strongest forces. Naturally endowed with a handsome appearance, Chief Su stood there with military demeanor, exuding an aura of iron and blood, akin to a unsheathed blade.
Standing beside him was a young man named Kong Fei, also in the uniform of an army major. He was a fifth-tier wind ability user, another of Hua Nation's strongest. As Redhead just mentioned, the government dispatched two peak forces to capture Nie Jia, which showed the extent of his evil deeds and warranted the use of national weapons against him.
"Rubbish!" Before Nie Jia could speak, An Yuan behind him began ranting, scratching his red hair recklessly. "Joining the government forces? Why wait till today? I would advise you, as an ability user, to repent and join us. If you lay down your weapons now and apologize to our boss, we'll forgive you and accept you as our own, building a new world together."
An Yuan was arrogant, his words filled with pride. Chief Su and Kong Fei, however, showed a hint of annoyance simultaneously. "Nie Jia, you're already wounded and have no chance against us. Think carefully, will you walk with us today or perish here?"
"F*ck..." Nie Jia raised his hand slightly, silencing An Yuan's loud tirade behind him.
"Could you spare us today, let me go back and think it over, alright?" Nie Jia looked at the two of them expressionlessly, his gaze serious and devoid of any hint of jest.
"Boss! What are you saying? We're not afraid of them! We can just fight, why consider?" An Yuan anxiously shouted.
His noise gave Nie Jia a headache. "Shut up!"
An Yuan immediately fell silent. He looked young, perhaps around eighteen or nineteen, with a handsome face still retaining some lingering traces of childishness. Rebuked by Nie Jia, he closed his mouth obediently, but his face flushed with anger, his eyes glaring fiercely at Chief Su and Kong Fei as if wanting to devour them alive.
When Nie Jia finished speaking, Chief Su and Kong Fei's expressions changed. They didn't take An Yuan's provocation seriously.
They exchanged a glance, their eyes swirling with turmoil.
Nie Jia had never yielded to the government's recruitment, not even bothering to respond. Every time, he would just start a fight and finish it by killing everyone. He was a notorious antisocial terrorist, yet also a precious fifth-tier ability user of the country, specializing in metal control.
Since the first emergence of ability users a decade ago, they had been categorized into several types. Among them, output-type ability users had the highest combat power, such as those with wind, water, light, and fire abilities. The higher the tier, the stronger the ability, but also the more exhausting it was. Currently, Kong Fei, the highest-tier output-type user, could easily destroy a hundred-meter-high building with a flick of his hand.
Control-type fighters were inferior in combat power to output-types, but metal ability users were an exception.
The reason output-types had the highest combat power was their ability to shape things out of thin air, whereas control-types could only manipulate what was already present. Perhaps a control-type plant ability user could defeat output-type users like wind, water, or fire users in a forest because it was their home ground.
However, metal ability users were almost unbeatable in the steel forest of human society.
Moreover, output-type users expended massive energy and power during battles, while control-types barely did. Even a fourth-tier metal ability user could grind a fifth-tier output user to death.
Thus, control-type metal ability users were universally acknowledged as the strongest force, yet exceedingly rare. Having even one in a country was a tremendous asset.
Coincidentally, Hua Nation had two, both fifth-tier. They could not only lift cattle into the sky but also explode them. However, one of them, Nie Jia, was a troublemaker, refusing to be controlled and engaging in internal conflicts.
Therefore, despite already having Chief Su as a metal ability user, Nie Jia's strategic importance was incomparable, and the government tried every means to recruit him.
Normally, Nie Jia would start fighting at the drop of a hat. So, his willingness to consider this time was already uplifting news.
But after a momentary exchange of glances, Chief Su and Kong Fei shook their heads. "No, you must give an answer now, or consider it here. We're willing to wait, but otherwise, it's war."
This time, they sacrificed countless talents to push Nie Jia to the brink. How could they let him off lightly? Today, it was either surrender or death!
"Fine, I have a condition." Nie Jia disliked being manipulated. If the other party wouldn't compromise, his temper would flare up. Pointing to his shoulder, he said, "Who ambushed me just now? Step forward and face death, then I'll give you an answer immediately."
Although he said so, his icy golden pupils were fixed on Kong Fei without blinking, clearly knowing who the assailant was.
Chief Su frowned, displeasure evident on his face. "Nie Jia, don't push your luck."
"Trading an output-type wind ability user for a metal ability user, isn't this a good deal? Do you have any objections?" Nie Jia smirked slightly, his golden pupils shining brilliantly in the night, exuding an air of eeriness and malevolence.
"You should know, although the government wants you, if I kill you here today and then join the government forces, no one will hold me accountable." Kong Fei gritted his teeth, his tone menacing.
"That's right. Even if I kill you here and then join the government forces, they won't seek justice for your unnecessary sacrifice," Nie Jia mocked, "After all, I'm a fifth-tier ability user. Fighting for the government, dying in vain – tell me, whom are you fighting for? And who will fight for you?"
"Nonsense!" Kong Fei cursed angrily, unable to restrain himself from attacking.
Nie Jia had exhausted all his stamina just standing here and conversing with them after killing so many colleagues!
Shi Su grabbed Kong Fei's wrist, restraining his anger as he said, "Nie Jia, if you're genuinely considering, show some sincerity. Otherwise, we'll have to end you right here!"
As soon as Shi Su finished speaking, a row of special forces behind him had already cocked their guns, waiting for the command.
"Boss, our people are here to support. They haven't detected us. It seems there are no sensor-type ability users in the team," An Yuan whispered quietly, approaching Nie Jia.
Shi Su didn't know what they were discussing but frowned. "You can't escape, Nie Jia. Surrender now."
Nie Jia didn't fully grasp the situation yet, unable to make a decision easily. However, he was clear that he disliked the two in front of him. To calmly assess the situation, he had to deal with the aggressive Shi Su and Kong Fei first. But precisely because he didn't understand the situation, he couldn't easily kill.
Escaping first was the best option.
Nie Jia waved his hand backward, and An Yuan retreated back into the terminal to join the others.
"I said I would consider, but I need some time. During this period, it's best for you not to bother me. Otherwise, I won't know what I'll do. Hope you value your lives." This sounded like a bold threat, but Nie Jia was speaking the truth. He had lost control more than once, and without someone to restrain him, he truly didn't know what he might do.
Without waiting for their response, Nie Jia stepped back abruptly and pressed down hard with one hand. The entire terminal suddenly buzzed, and the massive roof, as if caught in a hurricane, spun around and slammed vertically in front of Shi Su and Kong Fei, separating the two groups of people. With a loud bang, dust rose everywhere.
"What are you doing!" Kong Fei coughed and waved his hand, and a strong wind dispersed the smoke. He looked at Shi Su, displeased.
Shi Su's expression stiffened for a moment. He raised his hand and flipped the roof of the terminal. Everyone inside, including Nie Jia, had disappeared.
Kong Fei was furious. "After him!"
The special forces immediately rushed into the darkness to pursue the enemy.
Kong Fei asked, "Why did you let him go?"
Shi Su snapped out of his slight daze, and his five fingers stiffened before slowly tightening. He didn't want to let Nie Jia go. When Nie Jia had activated his ability just now, he had realized it and struggled with him for a moment... yes, just a moment, then Nie Jia's power overwhelmingly suppressed his ability, causing the roof to collapse...
Both he and Nie Jia were fifth-tier ability users. How could there be such a disparity in strength? Clearly, just now they were evenly matched!
A burst of crimson fire burst out not far away. It was An Yuan, a fourth-tier output-type fire ability user.
"Go!" Kong Fei leaped into the darkness, riding the wind.
Shi Su had no time to spare. He immediately focused his attention on the battle. They had a mission today, either to bring back Nie Jia or to take his life on the spot. Otherwise, not only would the higher-ups hold them accountable, but mobilizing the nation's strongest forces and still failing to catch Nie Jia would be a laughingstock!
Nie Jia noticed the convoy chasing them, so he opened the sunroof of the car.
He leaped out of the sunroof, crouching on the roof like a predatory beast. The surrounding tall buildings began to collapse toward the road as Nie Jia gestured, causing countless steel bars to penetrate the road like swords, blocking the special forces convoy behind.
He had no intention of killing; otherwise, creating roadblocks wouldn't be so simple.
But evidently, Shi Su and Kong Fei, these two ability users, weren't planning to let him off so easily. They continued to pursue relentlessly, and the steel barrier Nie Jia created suddenly shot towards them.
"I'll make you regret this!" Nie Jia was annoyed. With a glance, countless steel bars were sent flying. Nie Jia immediately noticed signs of the car lifting off the ground, but it was soon restored.
An invisible blade appeared out of nowhere, and Nie Jia swiftly moved a car to counter it.
The wind blade cleanly cut the car in half, with some residual momentum. Nie Jia remained crouched, his foot slightly lifted from the ground. He calmly leaned to the side to dodge, a few strands of hair being severed, then his eyes flashed with hostility, stirring up his killing intent.
Nie Jia was about to act, but his remaining rationality stopped him. He couldn't impulsively cause trouble. The situation in this world was different from previous times. The people facing him were vital figures of the nation. Killing anyone casually would have consequences he couldn't predict yet.
But just as Nie Jia was thinking, suddenly, he felt weightless, floating in mid-air. Nie Jia turned back in surprise, finding the entire convoy, including the vehicles, floating as if in space. Someone exclaimed in astonishment, and An Yuan floated out of the car window, shouting to Nie Jia, "Boss, there's a new control-type ability user nearby!"
An Yuan had just finished speaking when a tungsten-gold armor-piercing bullet silently pierced Nie Jia's chest, leaving behind a glaring bloodline.
