Nie Jia and Shi Si spent their lives together, only departing from this world when their vitality was exhausted many years later. This time, Nie Jia didn't linger in the system bug prepared by Shi Si for him. He was almost impatient, urging KK to open the new world data. He didn't want to delay even a moment, longing to meet Shi Si soon.
KK immediately took action, connecting him to the new world.
After a moment of confused consciousness, Nie Jia woke up amidst a desolate and despairing cry.
He didn't pay much attention to that voice; his consciousness was immediately invaded by the sharp pain in his knees, which made Nie Jia extremely uncomfortable. For a moment, he didn't move, looking around, and discovered himself lying in an extremely empty hall. The hall was adorned with carved beams and painted pillars, and the floor was entirely made of precious black jade. Despite the lack of decorations, there was a faint aura of royal power, indicating that the original owner had a high status.
Nie Jia lifted the covers, the sharp pain in his knees making him increasingly restless. He intended to cross his legs to take a look but found that the legs of this body were useless. With a gentle tap on his knees, Nie Jia sadly realized that all the tendons and ligaments below his knees had long been severed. This was not a new injury but an old one from years ago.
Outside, the wailing continued, someone outside was desperately pleading, their voice hoarse, "Brother Wang, please retract your order! You've already severed his hands and feet. Please spare him for the military merits he once earned! Brother Wang!"
The voice was filled with intense misery, blending infinite sadness and despair, making it unbearable to contemplate how much pain that person must be in.
Faint voices of courtiers trying to persuade someone came through, "Your Highness, please go back. You know the King's temperament. Even if you kneel to death outside this hall, it won't change anything. Going back now can at least escort General Sikong on his final journey..."
The person outside continued to cry and plead, and one could faintly hear the muffled sound of kowtowing.
Nie Jia, however, remained unmoved. His mood worsened after confirming his current state as a cripple. He sat up with a dark and difficult expression, silently receiving the world data KK was transmitting, pondering quietly, letting the cries from outside continue.
The sleeping hall was quite peculiar, with a dragon bed placed in the center and only a crackling incense burner placed beside it. The floor around the bed was filled with silver bells, even hanging densely in the air, making the entire hall unusually empty.
Nie Jia casually flicked a bell hanging near his head, setting off a chain reaction. The entire hall resounded with the jarring sound of all the hanging silver bells.
The door creaked open, and an elderly eunuch with silver hair walked in and stood outside the circle of bells, respectfully asking, "Has the King awakened?"
Nie Jia waved his sleeve indifferently and said, "Leave."
The old eunuch didn't dare to linger and quickly retreated. The figure kneeling outside the hall took the opportunity to rush inside, crying out desperately, "Brother Wang! Brother Wang, please spare his life!"
He was a handsome young man, having kneeled outside in the icy wilderness for who knew how long, his face pale, his forehead bloodied from knocking, stopped by the guards stationed at the door. He looked at Nie Jia, who remained cold and indifferent, crying bitterly and pleading for someone's mercy.
He was the protagonist in this world, revered as the Prince Jing, with a noble identity. At the mere age of seventeen, he was renowned for his medical skills, having saved countless heavily wounded soldiers on the battlefield during the protagonist's expeditions. He had won the hearts of the soldiers and captured the affection of the protagonist, who was thoroughly enamored by his capabilities and kind-heartedness. The two had promised each other a lifetime.
The protagonist, on the other hand, was the "he" mentioned by Prince Jing, holding significant military power and known as Sikong Han, the war god of the Yan Kingdom.
Sikong Han hailed from a family of warlords, extraordinarily brave and strong. In his childhood, he even punched a tiger to death. After joining the military, he never lost a battle and led a hundred elite soldiers to capture a city, instilling fear in the enemy. His bravery and intimidation made him a war god revered by both the military and the common people, a title he truly deserved.
However, this war god was about to be beheaded for treason. His lover, Prince Jing, was pleading desperately outside because his beloved was about to be executed by his own elder brother, which is why Prince Jing, anxious and frantic, knelt outside the hall, begging the ruler for mercy.
The world was steeped in the scent of gunpowder; every nation was embroiled in conflict, and the Yan Kingdom, ruled by the former lord, was no exception. Endless wars left the people in misery, and no country thrived. Yet, the appearance of Siskong Han, the God of War, brought a fleeting sense of peace to the Yan Kingdom. In the eyes of the people, Siskong Han was more beloved than the former lord.
No, it should be said that anyone compared to the former lord would be cherished by the people because the former lord was an outright tyrant.
Named Jun Changsheng, he became bloodthirsty at barely eighteen, commanding the slaughter of generals and civilians alike to seize territories. His cruelty knew no bounds. Even if a palace maid displeased him for a moment, he'd order her beaten to death with clubs. Human lives seemed mere numbers to him. His tyranny bred fear among his subjects, leaving them desperate for the God of War, Siskong Han, to end this reign of terror.
Siskong Han hailed from a noble family and had affection for Jun Changsheng's brother. He patiently hoped for the king's growth and change but was continually disappointed. Jun Changsheng not only failed to amend his ways but escalated his atrocities as he aged. His manic killings lacked any humanity, ultimately leading to Siskong Han's profound disillusionment.
For the people's welfare, Siskong Han, pushed beyond endurance, finally rebelled.
Yet, there were reasons why Jun Changsheng, with his brutal nature, could maintain his position on the throne.
He was the dearly beloved eldest son of the late king. The very name "Changsheng" revealed the depth of the late king's love for his heir. Before his passing, the late king not only passed the throne to him but also bestowed upon him command over a secret organization called "Xuanjia." Comprising only twenty-one individuals, this organization discreetly protected the king's throne, loyal shadows in the darkness. Apart from the king, few knew of their existence, let alone had seen them.
How formidable was Xuanjia? Simply put, when Siskong Han rebelled, a single leader from Xuanjia crushed his year-long rebellion plan! Just as Jun Changsheng learned of Siskong Han's rebellion, the leader of Xuanjia decimated Siskong Han's right-hand men and presented the broken Siskong Han before Jun Changsheng.
Jun Changsheng's brutality was beyond question. He immediately ordered the massacre of Siskong Han's entire family. As for Siskong Han himself, under the incessant pleading from his brother, Jun Changsheng relented once, sentencing Siskong Han to be beheaded.
With the God of War killed and Siskong's family wiped out, the hatred of the courtiers and people towards the king intensified. Fear of the tyrant loomed over everyone. The despot was like a sharp blade hanging over every head, even for the commoners who didn't attend the court, living in constant dread.
With Xuanjia protecting him, Jun Changsheng, despite being a brutal half-wit, lived without worry his entire life. However, being a major antagonist, he was destined to die under the protagonist's halo.
After Siskong Han's execution, he unexpectedly reincarnated into an unknown soldier in the army. Bearing deep-seated grudges, he returned, vowing to take down both the tyrant and the twenty-one members of Xuanjia! He endured humiliation, regained his strength within the army, and, with his exceptional skills, soon gained favor from the generals. He reunited with Jun Changsheng's brother, Jun Changyue, who had once gone on a tour, believing they were forever separated. Unexpectedly, his beloved returned, and Jun Changyue gave himself wholly, assisting Siskong Han's every move.
Xuanjia's existence prevented outsiders from approaching Jun Changsheng, but Prince Jing, Jun Changyue, could.
The elder brother killed his own beloved, and Jun Changyue had long given up on the incurable elder brother. Upon reuniting with Siskong Han, upon returning to the palace, Jun Changyue pretended to care for Jun Changsheng's crippled legs but, in reality, gradually poisoned and weakened Jun Changsheng's body.
Meanwhile, with his War God prowess, Siskong Han amassed forces once more. Fully prepared upon his rebirth, after years of planning, he finally hunted down and killed each of the twenty-one members of Xuanjia. He besieged the leader of Xuanjia with thirty thousand troops, exhausting all strength, and outside the palace gates, Siskong Han killed the leader of Xuanjia, crushing the group completely!
Finally, Siskong Han stormed the palace, pinning Jun Changsheng with an arrow to the throne, then tossed him into a ravine to be devoured by wild beasts.
On the day the tyrant died, Siskong Han crowned Jun Changyue as the new king with the support of the people. They ruled together in love, cherished by the populace, and celebrated across the nation.
Having perused the world's records, Nie Jia couldn't help but let out a low sigh.
KK also sighed, saying, "Sir Han is about to face execution, his entire family obliterated. The commander of Xuanjia has already broken his limbs. Even if you spare him, it's likely to incur his hatred. Your current situation is dire."
Nie Jia reclined, looking expressionless at the silver bell hanging from the beam. "My legs hurt."
KK choked for a moment.
Jun Changsheng's legs were crippled, bones shattered. Though the once blurry wounds had healed, they still agonized him intensely during rainy or cold weather. As heavy snowflakes drifted outside, Nie Jia's knees downward might be useless, but they retained sensation, causing him unbearable pain.
Jun Changyue wept outside until his voice grew hoarse, further agitating Nie Jia.
KK suggested, "Given the current societal hierarchy, your abilities could heal your legs in one go."
Nie Jia raised his hand, observing his slender fingertips. "This world is too chaotic. There's no guarantee if Shi Si is injured now. Overusing my powers requires extended recovery, causing delays. By the way, can you sense where Shi Si is right now?"
KK shook its head, powerless. "I'm only linked to your consciousness, disconnected from external world data. Otherwise, it'd be easily detected by the prosecution team. Hence, I can't determine the Director's location or identity in the world data."
Nie Jia sighed, feeling anxious once again. He covered his eyes with his forearm, remaining silent for a while before getting to the point. "What was the original host's desire?"
"Those against me shall perish."
Nie Jia scoffed, a wry smile forming. Jun Changsheng, the tyrant of Yan Kingdom, was infamous for his brutality and lack of humanity. Even the citizens wished for his sudden demise, let alone the protagonists. Fulfilling the original host's desire might entail annihilating everyone.
Outside, Jun Changyue's tearful plea echoed, "Brother Wang... Brother Wang! Please retract the decree. If he dies, I won't last long either. Please, spare him this time, considering his countless merits; this is just a momentary confusion!"
Nie Jia grew annoyed, giving a stern order, "Someone come! Prepare my change of clothes. To the execution ground!"
