No one in Galaxy showed the slightest jealousy or displeasure on their faces. Along with the sudden thunderous applause at the scene, they happily clapped for themselves, applauding the opponent who thoroughly impressed them tonight, Nie Fei, and also for Galaxy, which had never given up chasing and running.
Nie Jia didn't react at all, standing there with a cold expression, but he extended his hand generously as Yu Jingwei finished speaking.
Amidst the thunderous applause filling the venue, the two shook hands firmly. Nie Jia patted Yu Jingwei on the shoulder. The cameras caught a hint of redness in Yu Jingwei's eyes. His gaze was full of admiration, no longer holding any past grudges or animosity towards Nie Fei.
"I'm honored to share the stage with you, but I still dislike you," Yu Jingwei said to Nie Jia.
Anyone could hear that his "dislike" had changed its flavor. Nie Fei, with his talent and unparalleled control of the stage, completely conquered everyone, including this former rival.
After competing against each other for four years, one was conquered, the other admirable. The scene was truly touching.
Chen Tian applauded beside them, feeling a sense of melancholy admiration. He appreciated Yu Jingwei's frankness and ease but realized that DDD was completely unable to keep up with Nie Fei. Some of Non-Wei's comments were right—DDD didn't deserve Nie Fei. Today, standing on this stage, DDD had the spotlight of the whole of Asia, effortlessly defeating the rock band to win. It was all thanks to Nie Fei.
Without DDD, Nie Fei could stand much higher on his own. And without Nie Fei, DDD was nothing.
Just like now, the person Yu Jingwei truly acknowledged was Nie Fei, not DDD.
They were both burdens on Nie Fei, yet once united against him.
At this moment, Chen Tian undoubtedly felt guilty. When the host announced that DDD was the champion of the night's showdown, and cheers erupted from the audience, he felt no joy.
No one from DDD seemed happy. Even as the most dazzling war god tonight, receiving the loudest screams and applause from the judges' panel and the audience, Nie Fei merely nodded faintly and lightly clapped, seeming to say, "Alright, I got it."
Dressed impeccably in a suit, despite bloodstains, he exuded pride without a hint of emotion. Like an elegant killer devoid of feelings, always effortlessly handling what others found extremely challenging. He was as cool as his songs, cool to the point of explosion.
Non-Wei just adored this proud and cold demeanor!
As for the others from DDD, they seemed invisible throughout the night. Who could even see them?
Xie Yihang seemed tense, almost stage-frightened, standing half a step further back than everyone else, almost sticking to Shi Yan. While the host showered praise, Shi Yan's face turned ashen, his tongue almost drawing blood.
This highly anticipated century showdown ended amid intense cheers.
Nie Jia felt mentally exhausted. After the recording ended, he retrieved his confiscated phone from the production team, surrounded by his assistants chattering, feeding him candy. He handed the microphone to Fang Fang, casually returned to the dressing room to get his coat, ready to leave with Shi Si.
The other three also returned. Nie Jia, with a composed expression while buttoning his suit, casually asked, "Why did my in-ears have no sound?"
The air in the dressing room instantly froze.
His five assistants looked baffled. Xiao Liu asked in surprise, "Boss, your in-ears had no sound all this time?"
Even Chen Tian was surprised, hadn't Nie Fei's in-ears been silent from the start? It wasn't evident... He had taken them off in the latter half and still managed to control the stage flawlessly due to his experience. But how did he perfectly keep the rhythm without sound in such a vast theater?
"Should we ask the production team?" Xie Yihang also seemed startled. He cautiously added, "Didn't expect your in-ears to malfunction. Thankfully, nothing happened."
Nie Jia ignored Xie Yihang, merely looking at Shi Yan indifferently, arching his eyebrows. "What do you say?"
Everyone in the room immediately turned their gaze to the now dark-faced Shi Yan.
Shi Yan grumbled, "What's so surprising about in-ear issues? Isn't it common? Why ask me?"
Indeed, even in significant occasions, in-ear malfunctions for singers weren't too unusual. Especially on variety shows, though rare, accidents happened, and one could only accept their misfortune.
But today was different. Every equipment in the theater, from the sound system to microphones, and stage construction, was entirely arranged by Shi Si. Let alone something as crucial as in-ears, the staff had double-checked everything before going on stage. It was impossible for any issue to arise.
Someone had tampered with it.
Shi Si was also present tonight, but while everyone knew his younger brother was on stage, they had no idea his partner was also there. Everyone assumed that Wankai's grand sponsorship was solely for his younger brother, Shi Yan. But in reality, the person he was truly concerned about was Nie Jia. No one knew this, and backstage personnel were likely only cautious with Shi Yan.
Who dared to oppose the Crown Prince of Wankai if he sabotaged Nie Fei's in-ears?
"You dare to do it but not admit it. How naturally low and despicable," Nie Jia mocked disdainfully.
"What did you say?!" Shi Yan's eyes flared up!
Low and despicable... Those words infuriated him the most! Even seeing such lines in TV dramas would instantly enrage him, reminding him of those privileged rich kids who used to say such things behind his back about him and his mother.
"Doing all these despicable things behind the scenes and yet not admitting it. Aren't you naturally despicable?" Nie Jia's emotions remained flat, looking calmly at the infuriated Shi Yan. His words weren't like insults but rather stating facts.
"Damn you!" Shi Yan's eyes widened, completely losing control, like an enraged lion, swinging his fist towards Nie Jia.
Xie Yihang was already terrified, taking a short, panicked step back, almost tripping over the couch.
Chen Tian's reaction was prompt. He attempted to intervene, but in Shi Yan's fury, he took a blow to his cheekbone, fell to the ground with a thud. Shi Yan aggressively charged towards Nie Jia, about to strike with his fist.
Though the live broadcast had ended, the cameras were still rolling. Shi Si in the control room witnessed this scene clearly. His heart almost stopped. He was about to rush to the dressing room when he saw, from the screen, Shi Yan's fist being suddenly grabbed by Nie Jia's hand at his throat!
In an instant, even the cameras couldn't catch how Nie Jia made his move. They only saw Shi Yan crashing into an invisible wall and then swiftly being restrained by Nie Jia, grabbing his throat.
It was hard to gauge how much force Nie Jia exerted. Shi Yan's face quickly turned from red to purple. His pained expression made it evident what kind of suffocating experience he was going through.
"If Nie Jia's emotions were still filled with a desire for violence when he came off the stage previously, Shi Yan would have had his neck twisted by now. But now, Nie Jia was calm inside, his emotions already soothed by Shi Si. He was merely appreciating the other's pain, much like a cat toying with a mouse.
"Nie Fei! Have you gone mad?" His agent rushed in and was terrified at the sight, swiftly moving to rescue the young master.
Nie Jia remained indifferent, effortlessly dodging Xiang Xianmin's pounce, then casually tossing Shi Yan aside.
Shi Yan rolled on the ground, immediately gasping for air, coughing violently, filling the room with his painful coughs. Xie Yihang worriedly went over, patting his back. He glared angrily at Nie Jia, demanding, "Nie Fei, you've gone too far! Are you trying to kill Shi Yan?"
Shi Yan couldn't speak, in unbearable pain. He hadn't expected Nie Fei to exert such brutal force, nearly crushing his throat!
"Stay out of my way in the future." Nie Jia cast a cold glance at the two, then left the dressing room with an air of superiority. "Let's go."
It was the first time the assistants witnessed such a violent confrontation. Terrified, they obediently followed their leader out, shrinking like timid chicks.
At that moment, all five of them couldn't help but feel their leader was like a mob boss and wished to light a fire for him.
Chen Tian, his mind blank from the pain on his face, struggled up from the ground, staring at the direction Nie Jia left. Stiffly, he turned to Shi Xianmin. "What's wrong with Nie Fei's earpiece malfunction? Was it really you?!"
Shi Xianmin closed the dressing room door and hushed, "Hey, lower your voice, there are still media people backstage."
Xie Yihang helped the still-coughing Shi Yan to sit on the sofa, his eyes filled with worried tears.
The agent's words implied agreement, making Chen Tian's scalp tingle. "What are you all thinking? What on earth do you want to do?! The whole of Asia is watching tonight's live broadcast. If Nie Fei causes an accident on stage today, he's finished! Not only him, but DDD is done too! What's wrong with all of you?!"
