The Villain Slaps The Protagonist’s Halo - Chapter 47

Chapter 47: I'll Tell You Who's the Boss

The atmosphere on-site had become uncontrollable. The roaring cheers of thousands echoed incessantly, yet they didn't affect the person performing on stage. His voice exploded throughout the theater; the million-dollar sound system flawlessly reproduced his singing, almost stunning the audience in the front rows.

On the judging panel, Lin Haoclear was holding his head in disbelief, staring at the stage with starry-eyed wonder.

Nie Jia was roaring, screaming. His voice had long obliterated the audience's reason. Everyone couldn't help but scream along, excitedly watching the stage, eager to offer their souls to the dazzlingly beautiful young man on stage.

When Chen Tian continued the main song with an intense electric guitar solo, Nie Jia leaped down from the speakers. Perhaps his movement was too forceful; unexpectedly, his in-ear monitor fell off at that moment, surprising both the director's team and the technicians backstage.

As the cameras had been following Nie Jia's every move, both the live and screen audiences witnessed the scene vividly. Countless were left dumbfounded, their minds blank.

In such a vast venue, a singer without in-ear monitors was akin to being deaf! Especially in this explosive metal rock performance, without the in-ear monitor, the singer couldn't hear his own voice, couldn't synchronize with the live accompaniment—how could he continue singing?!

The barrage of comments was filled with "It's over, it's cooling down..." When all seemed lost for the fans, Nie Jia miraculously found his in-ear monitor stuck inside his collar just before Chen Tian's part ended. Without giving anyone reassurance, in full view of everyone, he abruptly yanked the in-ear monitor out, a decisive act akin to drawing a sharp blade, and threw it into the audience seats.

Then, something changed.

His angry voice, with incredible penetrative power, tore through the theater. Even without the in-ear monitor, he flawlessly harmonized with the accompaniment!

"The first to fall is the priest,

The last is the English gentleman,

I sleep with a blood-stained tie,

Dressed up, kill, then leave,

I'm tired of this fake life,

Striving until the peak,

I break through and join this decisive battle,

I want you to proudly call my name,

Say my name!

Say my name!"

Surprisingly, it was a dual chorus!

Outside the venue, the audience was uncertain, but those witnessing this scene, almost fainting due to the intense emotional rollercoaster, were silent. The theater was filled not with cheers but with clenched teeth, tears, trembling bodies, rapid breaths—something unnameable burning in their chests that screaming couldn't release.

On stage, the youth was like the killer in the song, his voice the deadly bullet penetrating everyone's souls!

He screamed wildly on stage, effortlessly hitting high notes. In just one song, he shattered everything, breaking the rigid impression people had of Nie Fei's name, reshaping everyone's perception of him.

He wasn't just arrogant or rude; he was now audacious, even arrogant. Who dared say he didn't have the qualifications for this fierceness?!

"Say my name!" he roared unrestrainedly.

Ten thousand voices fiercely responded, "Nie Fei!"

"Nie Fei!" "Nie Fei!" "Nie Fei!"

Nie Kaiyi in the audience was already in tears, shouting the idol's name with all her might. Even the mocking barrage about the actress losing her composure had vanished. Because everyone witnessing this scene felt just like Nie Kaiyi.

Countless viewers in front of screens envied the ten thousand fortunate ones inside the theater. Through audio compression and their devices, Nie Fei precisely targeted and bombarded their brains. It was unimaginable what chaos the live audience was experiencing!

The fan base that was just now mocking Nie Fei for not being explosive enough was now ecstatic, bringing you to tears and making you kneel before their fervor!

The fans' cheers continued until the song ended. The atmosphere was so heated that it seemed they forgot it was a competition. They collectively shouted for an encore, treating the venue as Nie Fei's personal concert.

While the fans were ecstatic, backstage, Shi Si remained silent, furrowing his brows. Listening to the microphone capturing the faint breaths of his beloved on stage, his heart felt like it was being stabbed with knives, a painful sensation.

From the moment Nie Jia yanked off the in-ear monitor, Shi Si had noticed a significant shift in his emotional state. From merely showcasing skills, he transformed into anger, resentment, and even a hint of murderous intent. His singing now carried an indescribable darkness.

Shi Si keenly picked up on this, feeling deeply concerned about his mental state.

Xie Yihang had specifically warned him about some of his bipolar patients having a strong desire for control. Any small loss of control could potentially cause their mental collapse. So, he always had to be careful. Shi Si had always seen his partner as a little sun, completely unrelated to bipolar disorder. But now, he realized that some sort of pain had long turned his inner world into ruins.

Shi Si couldn't bear to think about what he had endured. His heart ached terribly, feeling a lump in his throat.

The DDD quartet had already left the stage, yet the fervent atmosphere remained. Upon realizing that the song had actually ended, the audience stubbornly shouted for an encore, refusing to listen to the host's attempts at crowd control.

The situation was completely out of control.

Nie Jia hadn't been off stage for long before he was eventually called back up. Wearing a shirt stained with blood, he returned to the stage, eliciting a frenzy from the audience. But instead of granting the audience their wish for another performance, Nie Jia, expressionless, raised a slender finger to his lips, softly shushing, and spoke in a clear voice, "Behave."

The heated atmosphere was instantly soothed. The fans emitted a small response, refraining from speaking and vigorously waving their bright blue lightsticks.

The host finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Nie Jia didn't return to the contestants' resting room. Ignoring the director's instructions, he handed the microphone to an assistant and walked straight out of the theater. Both the assistants and the director's team were dumbfounded. The show hadn't finished recording—where was he going? He needed to come back on stage later!

However, not even the assistant team dared to approach him at this moment, let alone the director's team. Once they encountered his chilling warning gaze, they fell silent.

Fortunately, Nie Jia still had KK reminding him about the situation, constantly advising him on managing his emotions.

Nie Jia took two deep breaths outside the theater before reluctantly suppressing the intense fury within. He stood silently in the night wind, forcing himself to calm down, suppressing the hatred surging within towards the Prosecution Group. He exerted tremendous effort to control himself, clenching his fists tightly, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.

"Fei Fei!" Shi Si rushed out and immediately saw his beloved's stiff figure in the cold breeze.

Nie Jia hadn't yet snapped out of his ferocious inner world and felt himself pulled into a warm embrace.

But he didn't need warmth! Full of resentment, Nie Jia's immediate reaction was to push Shi Si away.

He sought a cold blade capable of killing, bullets that could strike down enemies! Not the warmth he couldn't obtain.

"Don't come near." Nie Jia took a step back, looking coldly at Shi Si. "You'll leave too."

Shi Yanshen's expression turned cold and stern as he swiftly grabbed Nie Jia's wrist, preventing his attempt to escape, and pulled him into an embrace. Despite Nie Jia not resisting, Shi Yanshen could feel his body trembling uncontrollably.

Frowning with concern, he gently stroked Nie Jia's hair, speaking softly, "I won't leave. Have you forgotten we're married? I love you. I can't live without you; my only place is by your side."

Patiently and tenderly, he comforted Nie Jia, expressing his love and desire repeatedly. The one he truly couldn't be apart from was Shi Yanshen.

After a while, Nie Jia's emotions and body calmed down. His initial coldness faded, replaced by unease. He clung to Shi Yanshen, burying his face in his neck, expressing self-blame and sorrow through gasping breaths.

"It's okay, it's okay," Shi Yanshen kissed the top of his head, soothingly.

Meanwhile, outside, the director's team was searching for someone. Their secretary held them back, causing the team to fret, hoping the host could delay for a while.

"I didn't mean to push you away earlier..." Nie Jia anxiously explained.

Gazing at Nie Jia's reddened eyes filled with fragmented light, Shi Yanshen couldn't help but lower his head and kiss his lips gently. "Even if you push me away, I won't let you go. You can't shake me off, now or in any lifetime."

Tears welled in Nie Jia's eyes. He lowered his head, but Shi Yanshen firmly held his chin, lifting his face to kiss him.

Shi Yanshen pulled him closer, concerned about his lightly dressed state in the cold.

There was no need for explanations; Nie Jia responded to his kisses, feeling Shi Yanshen's love, pure and sincere. He didn't doubt Shi Yanshen; he just doubted himself.

After a while, Nie Jia finally stabilized his emotions. He took a breath and smiled, devoid of the shadows from moments ago.

Only then did Shi Yanshen truly relax.

"Let the makeup artist touch up your makeup later," Shi Yanshen suggested with a hint of meaning, giving Nie Jia's lips a light peck.

Nie Jia nodded, exchanged a few whispered words with him outside, reluctantly returning to the backstage. The makeup artist covered the reddened lips bitten by Shi Yanshen before he went back on stage.

Thankfully, Nie Jia's absence didn't cause any delay; there was already a broadcasting mishap at the live show.

Initially, the temporarily defeated side in the battle between the two powerhouses had a chance to regain favor with an additional performance. Nie Jia's stunning performance had already triumphed, ensuring Galaxy automatically received the chance for the additional show.

However, Galaxy's leader, Yu Jingwei, refused, causing an uproar among the audience.

This being a live broadcast, there was no room for mishaps. Reluctantly, the director's team had to bring both teams on stage.

Nie Jia stood expressionless beside the host, while Yu Jingwei took the microphone, facing the audience. "The reason for refusing the additional performance is clear. We've given our all in the previous performance; there's no need for an encore."

The fandom of Galaxy didn't express any regret or discontent, merely applauding for their idols.

But then Yu Jingwei's tone shifted, looking at Nie Jia, and said fiercely, "Nie Fei, I really dislike you!"

The host was slightly startled, and immediately, a wave of dissatisfaction erupted from the audience.

Nie Jia gestured for calmness and replied calmly, "I dislike you too."

Yu Jingwei chuckled and continued, "I've always been chasing after you. Every time, I'm just a bit behind you. Galaxy trails DDD by just a bit, this little margin. You're not that great. You can write songs, and so can I. Your songs top the charts, and so do mine. Tonight, I was confident I could surpass you. And indeed, this time, you didn't just leave me a bit behind; you left me across the entire Pacific Ocean."

Once the audience caught on, they responded with kind applause for Yu Jingwei's straightforwardness.

At this moment, Yu Jingwei appeared remarkably relaxed, saying with ease, "I've lost, I've lost. This time, I genuinely concede."

Tonight, he clearly understood the undeniable gap between the two sides. He realized he couldn't catch up with this person, losing the bitterness of always falling short by a tiny margin and failing, despite having Galaxy just slightly behind DDD.
