The Villain Slaps The Protagonist’s Halo - Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Stepson of a Prestigious Family

"Chairman, all the documents are complete and the numbers tally. I need your signature here," the assistant soon presented several transfer documents in front of Qin Yi Ran.

Qin Yi Ran glanced briefly and swiftly signed her name on the transfer agreement of Qin Corporation's shares, reclaiming the company into her hands. She smiled at Jiang Yang, her expression sweet and charming.

The conditions Qin Yi Ran proposed were indeed audacious. Notably, the shares from Qin Corporation accounted for 45%. She claimed all of it in one go, worth not just a billion, but more than the loss Jiang Yang incurred when he promised Jiang He that billion.

However, those shares were useless in Jiang Yang's hands. Qin Yi Ran dared to call herself a billionaire not because she chaired Qin Corporation but because her uncle, Gu Xueying, had lifted Gu Corporation through a land reclamation project and handed a major chunk of shares to Qin Yi Ran. Jiang Yang now fully understood: Qin Yi Ran wasn't growing Qin Corporation because he held 45% of the shares.

All this maneuvering was to reclaim the shares. Jiang Yang sneered silently within, puzzled as to how he had been cornered into this situation.

"The count from Jiang Corporation is off," Qin Yi Ran, after signing the final document, leisurely lifted a cup of tea and took a sip.

"How so?" Jiang Yang's pupils constricted, fearing Qin Yi Ran's change of heart. "We agreed on 20%; I haven't taken a single bit more."

"You indeed haven't taken anything from me, but you've taken from my brother, Yan Su," Qin Yi Ran chuckled. "You promised to transfer 10% of the shares to him once Meng Qian's grandfather was cured. Where are those shares? If you don't hand over my brother's shares, I can be just as untrustworthy as you."

"You're tricking me?!" Jiang Yang shot up, his eyes blazing red as if ready to devour someone. He had already transferred 20% of the shares, completely losing his position as the head of the Jiang family. If he transferred another 10%, even if the Jiang family were to regain its former glory, would there be any place left for him?

"Jiang Yang, I could call back the government's investigation team with just one phone call. Think it over. I'm not as conniving as you are. I only want what's rightfully mine, while you're holding onto what's not. I don't like forcing people. If you're unwilling, I won't take advantage of you. Take your time to consider," Qin Yi Ran calmly placed the cup down, seemingly ready to tear up the documents that had already taken effect.

She claimed to give him time to think but didn't actually provide any.

Quick as lightning, Jiang Yang snatched the documents across the table, pressing them down with one hand. He breathed heavily for a moment, then humiliatingly said, "I'll prepare the relevant documents immediately."

"I'll wait," Qin Yi Ran smiled.

Jiang couldn't afford to delay even a second. He soon returned to Qin Corporation with the documents. When he emerged after signing the draconian terms with Qin Yi Ran, Jiang Corporation officially changed hands. From that moment, Jiang Yang was no longer the head of the Jiang family, no longer the wealthiest in Moon City. He was merely a minor shareholder holding a tiny portion of shares... unworthy of the upper echelons.

Night had fallen, countless stars hung in the sky, their weight seemingly pressing down on his shoulders, almost breaking his neck. Instead of driving home, Jiang headed to a bar, drowning himself in drink after drink. Just as he was about to get intoxicated, he received a call from Jiang Zhaolin; the investigation team had left.

He had underestimated Yan Su. The power to command government officials like that was unexpected. Jiang Yang sneered, his eyes reddened as he angrily hung up and flung his phone away, then ordered another drink in a drunken stupor.

Unbeknownst to him, a man in a smart suit watched him from a corner. It was Gu Xueying, Qin Yi Ran's uncle, observing Jiang's desolate state, akin to a predator eyeing its prey.

"Did he really sign?" At the Huo residence, when Qin Yi Ran paid a visit to Nie Jia, she learned that he and Huo Qing had gone out to attend a charity gala. Just as she was about to take her leave, Huo Yun stopped her, describing the day's events, leaving Huo Yun astonished.

Qin Yi Ran nodded somewhat awkwardly, "Yes, he'd suffer more losses if he didn't sign."

Despite being from the affluent Huo family, Huo Yun was primarily an artist unfamiliar with the ways of the business world. Nie Jia's recent maneuvers genuinely surprised her.

"Since Yan Su isn't here, I'll take my leave. Please, Miss Huo, deliver these documents to him," Qin Yi Ran placed all the transfer documents of Jiang Corporation's shares on the table, pushing them towards Huo Yun.

As they conversed, headlights flashed outside. Nie Jia and Huo Qing had returned.

While Huo Yun lazily lounged on the sofa, Qin Yi Ran couldn't help but stand up.

The weather had turned cold, and Nie Jia draped himself in Huo Qing's coat as he entered. His indifferent gaze swept over Qin Yi Ran, a hint of inebriation apparent. "Why are you here?"

He seemed slightly tipsy, with a glint of redness in his eyes, leaning lazily against Huo Qing's arm.

"Things with Jiang Yang are settled," Qin Yi Ran stated.

Huo Yun waved the documents in his hand, "Brother, didn't you recently acquire scattered shares? Now Jiang Yang only has 9%, Jiang Zhaolin has 10%, and the rest are all in your hands."

Qin Yi Ran was slightly surprised; she had thought it was only 30% that had ended up with Yan Su.

"Did you know Jiang Yang got into an accident and is in the hospital?" Nie Jia spoke casually, strolling over and casually flipping through the documents. Huo Qing detoured into the kitchen and soon brought back a glass of warm water and stomach medicine, handing it over.

"An accident? When did this happen?" Qin Yi Ran was taken aback; Jiang Yang had been perfectly fine when he left in the afternoon.

"A car accident, on Dongdao Road," Nie Jia glanced at Qin Yi Ran, "It involved your uncle's people, but Jiang Yang was drunk driving and driving against traffic, so he's mainly at fault. A bit of compensation will solve it, but whether Jiang Yang survives the hospital or not, that's uncertain. Even if he survives, he might end up disabled."

He said it with a light air, tossing the documents back onto the table.

Qin Yi Ran had assumed Nie Jia was angry about her uncle's unilateral actions. She remained silent for a moment, her eyes showing a hint of tears but mostly filled with hatred. Through gritted teeth, she said, "Jiang Yang caused my grandmother's death. If my uncle didn't act this way, I would have. Blame it on me if you want."

"Go home; nothing's wrong here. Your uncle's people aren't

reliable; I've dealt with it. They've been warned not to try anything again. Tell him to be more cautious in the future." Huo Qing, with his back turned to Qin Yi Ran, watched Nie Jia obediently take the medicine before speaking in a detached tone.

Qin Yi Ran nodded nervously and promptly left the Huo residence.
